I was wanting to run 285/70r17 in Toyo's open country at2 and was wanting to use my stock 17 inch sport rim and was wanting to know was the smallest spacer you can run to make them tires fit?

I am running 270/65/17 on my sport rims WITH 1.25" spacers and a front and rear leveling kit......It is a pretty tight fit at a full turn with my setup. I might be wrong, as I dont know much about lifts, but it is going to be a tight fit for you. I dont know if you have a lift or not but I am thinking maybe a 1.75" spacer spacer at least.

Build thread in sig... 4-link long travel
Lift height doesn't matter. there are guys running 1'' spacers with the factory 17s and 285s without hitting the uca.

I got the 1.25 because originally, with mud terrains, my tires would rub on the UCA. I got the 1.25 just to be safe, the wider stance looks pretty good too.

Sorry to piggyback off of this thread, but it is related to the OP.

I have 275/70/17 on my stock sport 17" rims with the 5100's at 2.5" lift.
I only rub the UCA and body frame when at full lock, but no rub on the fenders.

Do you guys think that 1.25" spacers would be the best for spacers.
I was thinking 1.5" to be safe, but then I dont want to worry about stressing my hub/bearings too much. Its really only quarter of an inch difference? lol

I know there may be some fender trimming because of the spacer, but Im sick of worrying about fully locking while parking. haha

    Any thoughts?
