Smart key blank

It’s a small metal tag that comes with your oem keys.
I’ve only ever purchased used vehicles and lucked out I guess as they have all come with one. Wasn’t until I needed this replacement that I learned what it was

 

Isn't the code also on lock cylinder accessed through rubber grommet in drivers door? Should be able to pop it out and it may be stamped on there. Other option for the code is through the dealer.

 

Damn. This tag is with my other oem keys lol. I can’t for the life of me remember where there are through multiple moves haha.

 

As smacky mentioned above, there’s another way to find it. Lock cylinder sounds right, but I don’t recall exactly where or how to get the code besides the dealer

Guy on eBay is sending me a cut key from pics no code. I’m wanting to see if it works. Strange ordeal though. Don’t order it before you send him pics of key and vehicle info first. He doesn’t like that. lol but the instructions are like 800 words and strange. We’ll see.

Years ago I bought two blanks on Amazon for my 2021, the type that slips into the key FOB. A local dealer cut each for $15 each. When I contacted a local locksmith the price he quoted was like I was expecting the Stealership to be. Sometimes things just do not make sense. This dealer would have done the cutting for free if they were a regular two-edged key.

It was. And his instructions were terrible and confusing but it was a good deal. Key slipped right into my fob a locked in.

 

Damn. Mine doesn’t fit. And I bought two. He didn’t cut the U shaped notch on the back of the key

 

That’s sux. Hopefully he can fix the issue!!
