Who has a Smartcap or a truck bed cap (that doesnt come with internal lighting) and has added lighting to it? What have you done for your lighting? Adhesive, magnet or hard mounting to the truck cap? How did you source your power? Does color changing or color options matter / did it matter when you wanted to add lighting?

Most bed caps / tonneau covers on the market do not offer lighting options and therefore makes the bed difficult to organize and pull from in dusk/dawk/night times. We want to see what other users are doing for this problem. How did you illuminate for Decked or drawer systems? How did you illuminate the bed portion if the OEM cargo light is blocked or obstructed?

not a bed cap, but i installed molle panels, and removed the top-most molle holes to install aluminum track that some led strip lights sit within. primarily because i wanted to maintain the accessory rail access, add low capacity tie down points via the molle panels, and add light across the entire bed, not just at the front or rear.

i installed a waterproof switch at the back of the bed that's tied into the 12v power within the 7-blade trailer plug via a sacrificial curt 56584 extension harness and bypassed the ignition shutdown relay to supply power all the time.

i imagine that some campers would appreciate a white/red light option for maintaining night vision, though most are just gonna want more light!

That looks great, a night pic to show how bright that is would be awesome too. Thats the compromise, theres lighting and then overkill when youre camping. LEDs are harsh to look at so having something diffused helps keep it "tame" when youre in areas with little or no lighting but the moon. We agree about the amber/red options as well which were looking into making for a bed kit / truck bed cap.

I bought some magnetic usb c rechargeable led lights from Amazon. Can be switched on, off, or motion sensing. I keep them off until needed, except on camping trips I turn them on motion activated.

Working well so far to light the cargo area when getting things in or out in the dark.
