My wife has a BA in English, and a MA in adult ed. For this reason I don't let her follow this site. Well that, and I don't want her to know what I'm up to, and the money I'm getting ready to spend. :)

Sad to say but I think all of the poor grammar and spelling on the internet reflects the quality of our educational system.

What get's me is when self appointed "experts" are too lazy to capitalize the 1st letter of each sentence. It's hard to take someone seriously when they type like a 10 year old texting on a smart phone.

My 17 year old recently took the ACT and scored a 35 in reading and a 36 in English. 36 is a perfect score. Yet, more than once, she's made fun at the fact that I type out every word fully with punctuation and whatnot in my texting

Autocorrect and spell check has eliminated the nead to learn and to retain writing skills.
Plus it seems that nobody cares how they may look to others. Not just in writing. But in social skills as well.

    This is true!

The problem is that autocorrect has no sense of grammar, so you often have the wrong word spelled right.

And, I agree that people don't think as much about what they say on social media. They don't care what they say to people because there are no real consequences. At least, that seems to be what they think.

It's easy to mouth off and be rude when you don't expect to ever meet someone face to face.
