Is there a thread on how to change out the tailgate inards (inner parts) from one gate to another ? I looked breifly in the how to section and could not find anything. Also aside from the dealer can anyone recomend a reputable place to buy new or used a tailgate on line. The operators company that smashed it to hell is gona py for it.

Did the bed make contact with the cab?

Those rubber marks on the ground look suspicious

I'm still trying to figure out why the OP backed into that forklift so hard. Not sure what he thought was going to happen :notsure:

Since it’s going to be paid for by the person that hit it, take it to a auto body shop and get an estimate.
You don’t even need to think about picking up tools or where to get parts.

Unscrew the black plastic and remove.

Remove camera if equiped, camera harness if equiped, tailgate latch. Then remove the old tailgate.

All of this is self evident, no 'write up' needed.

If you can't figure it out, pay a pro.

Or a neighborhood kid who has built robotic Lego sets. Which are actually harder than the tailgate.

Guessing direction of the pushing, compressing the force across the rolled edge and back of the truck, than a vertical load, (like most are damaged) making a shear force?

They are paying for it, why are you attempting to do anything?

As far as the lift operator goes, let's move on...

BUT a shit eating grin like that needs to be removed after you back into my truck regardless.

Now that we are back on topic, why not just purchase a whole new tailgate?

I mean by the time you spend all your time finding the parts, you could already have a new tailgate. :notsure:

Ya, that looks pretty gnarly. Best of luck. Hopefully you can find a complete tailgate with everything included.

So, are the skid marks from your truck being pushed in park?

I am finding it hard to believe that the tailgate is the only damage. I would take it to a body shop and have it inspected.

Indeed at a very slow less than walking speed he pushed the truck back. I took the gate off and had a look under\ around drove it home no issue other than a smashed TG. It still closes but will be replaced.
