I use this action camera as a dashcam. It has car mode where if you plug it in it will turn on when your car turns on and turn off when your car turns off. You can also set it to record in 10min intervals so its easier to go back and find stuff that happens and so its easier to delete any uneventful files. I can get around 5-6 hours of footage with a 32gb card. Comes with all kinds of mounts and accessories too including an extra battery and you can use it as an action camera too (go pro). Footage quality is pretty dang good for the price. It dips down to $45 from time to time which is what I paid.

Got the truck back after a long repair a couple weeks ago. They forgot to reset the tire pressure sensors, so I had to take it back for that. When I first got it back, I engaged the different 4x4 mechanisms to make sure everything engaged and ran ok. I didn't immediately take it for an extended 4WD road test however. A snow storm the other day was good chance for me to give a better test. I came away with a couple issues:

    1. I know that when in 4WD on dry pavement it can lurch when trying to take tight corners. I had experienced this in the past in other 4wd vehicles, but it seems worse now on even moderate turns at low speeds in 4wd hi, and even did it on the snowy roads taking right hand turns. Unfortunately, I never really tested it extensively before the accident so I'm not sure if that's just normal for this truck.

    2. Truck veers to the right uncomfortably when in 4WD. Driving down a snowy road on level road (no shoulder lean), if I let go of the steering wheel it will immediately start veering right. It would go off the road within 500 feet. I'm at the shop now having them look at it. Hard to believe they didn't notice this when test driving it before giving it back to me. And I feel like an idiot that I didn't test it more extensively as soon as I got it back. Still only a couple weeks have gone by, so not too bad.

    3. MPG have gone back down to what it was like brand new. First tank after the repair only got about 15 MPG. Second tank got about 16. Currently getting 17 at the start of the 3rd tank since the repair. Makes me think a large part of the new truck break in is in the drive shaft and rear axle which were both replaced with new parts.

They did another alignment and it was still pulling hard right in 4WD. Contacting insurance company today, and I'm dropping it off Friday for more work.

I went to school with the dude that rolled his Tacoma in the infamous "Taco Muerto" YouTube video. I wish that video was still up lol

Can't believe he didn't get caught for that play on insurance with video evidence of him rolling it.

Nice! They must factor into their big equation what some of us idiots will do when we buy an off-road toy.

So for those looking for hardcore smashed truck action, sorry to disappoint

    1_zpsj796x4wp_72c995df09716a6cff0d772084d1aaa9c1075e78.jpg

Gee, looks pretty good for getting smashed into at about 20-30mph while I sat at a light, knocking me forward 5-8 feet. Barely a scratch on it. Then you look at the left side of the bumper which is just a bit wonky, notice the tailgate is shifted to the right, and realize the bed is tilted... yep, frame damage! First new truck and it made 8 weeks. Now sitting on my hands while it's parked up at my dealer's body shop lot. I suspect, looking at the other guy's car (a Solara), almost all the force went into the receiver. Adding to it was that it only caught about 70% of the bumper, a dead on square hit may not have done as much damage. Truck looks remarkably normal until you look at the rear end for more than 10 seconds in the daylight.

Got smashed from behind while stopped by a loaded GMC 1500. Hit me at +/- 40mph. Smashed me into the car in front of me before bouncing off and being hit a second time, then hitting the car in front a second time. My 1Up bike rack was smashed as was the front and rear of my truck along with a bent frame. Supposed to pick it back up today after 2.5 weeks of repairs at Toyota. If it doesn't drive straight, it'll get traded right away.
