I had the opportunity to play with a 6x6 Pinzgauer this weekend. The low center of gravity, six driven wheels, and fully locked made for an impressive vehicle. I'm thinking Trail Toys needs to add one to the fleet. :D

I did manage to side step between two trees on an off camber downhill though. We hooked up the winch on James's jeep with the snatch block and pulled her sideways to where I could nose downhill.

I had to google what that thing was. Now I'm glad I did. locked 6x6 with portals sounds badass; 4 cylinder engine not so much. Do you know what they weigh? I couldn't find any info on that.

What do you think about a 6x6 taco or similar? Ever since seeing the Arctic Trucks 6x6 Hilux I've been dreaming of something like that.. but far beyond my skillz and budget. I'm not sure how you'd get good articulation out of a 6x6.

The one we were driving around weighed in at 5300lbs.

Here's a video showing some of the inner workings.

Quite light! Sounds like a blast.

The video was very helpful, although it looks to be about how I imagined. It doesn't look like a lot of wheel travel would be available from that type of system unless you have a pretty wide stance, similar to the bigger long travel IFS kits we see a lot of on TW.

The low center of gravity and six tires on the ground made up for the lack in travel. The 14" of stock ground clearance helped as well.

The day job has been taking way too much of my time. That and the fact that I don't have a shop to work in still. The next mod is to throw the 60 under the front. I can't do that in the parking lot of my building.

Sheesh! You guys post in here and all of the sudden a deal pops up that I can't pass up.

I just ordered five 41.5"x13.5"x17" Pitbull Rocker XOR Radial tires. The owner of the shop made a bet that if Trump won he'd offer his tires at 50% off. I don't need these yet, but I couldn't pass up the deal.

At 50% off they are probably still expensive right?

Well, we're not talking about going to discount and buying the cheapest tire you can find for your Taurus. :D

The Rockers in this particular flavor are $590 each, retail.
