I did some reading up on those. It seems they're not in production anymore, but you can still find new old stock. The $70 one on Amazon was made in 2006 and recertified with a 10 year stamp in 2013. If you don't recertify before the 10 years you have to throw away the tank.

That's what it looks like to me. I did see a couple of comments about people being refused at their filling stations though.

I'm sure. that's just the good ol' boys being scared of anything that "isn't the way their daddy did it".

I want to use a deep red/maroon for the skid, so I flipped the colors. I'll have to paint the skid white, apply a decal, spray with black, and then peel the decal before it drys.

    Or this...

Still not thrilled with either, but coming up with more ideas. Definitely want to stick with only two colors.

    yellow?

too drunk of a project to remember. i really didn't try to hard toing that project. wiped down with some alcohol, taped off for the yellow background, sprayed whatever yellow paint i had laying around (probably enamle), then waited an hour and taped/sprayed the bedliner for the black sections.

This past weekend I was able to set up the gopro Hero3 with the wifi connection. It's a fantastic option for controlling the camera, especially since I don't have to get out of the truck to turn the camera on/off, and that I can start recording remotely. The only downside is that the battery life sucks, even with a battery backpack.

The solution is to hardwire the camera. Here's what I've ordered.

    Cam-Do Battery Eliminator

The battery eliminator sits in place of the factory battery and provides a female cctv type connector, see below.

To get power to that connector I'll need the male plug wired to 12volt. The supplied cable is only 11" long so the connector will be exposed to the elements and the cctv connectors are not waterproof.

I will be replacing the cctv connectors with waterproof electrical connectors similar to those you see on HID's.

These connectors can be found on Amazon, $8 for a pack of 5.

I plan on building several different power cables for the camera. One with a cigarette lighter plug, another with ring terminals, and a set with the cctv plugs so I can use an existing battery pack that I have.

The company that makes the battery eliminator also makes a neat little adapter that allows you to use a full size SD card with the Hero 3. With unlimited power the 2 hours of record time on a 32 gb sd card isn't enough.

I'll report back once I get the cables built.

Looks like it's time for some trimming! I didn't think that 33's would require trimming, but it sure looks like it. The fenders were doing a good job of scraping the mud off of my tires.
