I though it looked like schedule 40, any reason you went with that over tubing? I know the cost difference is substantial

Cost was definitely a consideration, as well as the tools we had available for bending the pipe. I wouldn't want to build the whole truck out of pipe, but a few pieces here and there won't hurt anything.

Makes sense, I have been contemplating how to create and install a set of these on my truck ever since I saw them on the expodition overlands new tacoma. Just having a time determining how to hook it into my CBI bumper.

What diameter are the wings on the CBI? I ordered the clamps from ARB direct.

Therein lies my dilemna, I just got the front stinger hoop when I got it, decided not to opt for the light hoops. I am thinking might be able to make something with some of those ruffstuff connectors you used. Btw thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, always nice to find good advice here.

    No worries Chris.

You could come off of the side and top of the wing with two standoffs and then work the bar from there. Maybe something like this? Don't mind the hoops.

The two bars aren't necessary, but I think it would look pretty sharp.

I like that option, that would look pretty clean theres nothing wrong with overdoing the mounting points. I was thinking about stubbing a pipe off of the bumper at an angle with a connector on the end of it. Then run the pipe over and down to another stub off of the slider like you did on yours. Like so

If you're going to be welding to the bumper anyway why not have CBI send you the light hoops. Then you'll have more options for your scrub bars.

I called ARB to order the clamps. I believe they're in the $30 price range.

I would suggest calling ARB directly as their customer service is outstanding. I did however find this:

    http://www.rocoperformance.com/product.php?productid=17630

You can search for "ARB side rail clamps" to find more vendors.

$42 for the set of clamps, which includes four pieces and the M8x60 carriage bolts. I would suggest you source alternate hardware as the supplied bolts are weak. I'm going to replace mine with 5/16" grade 8 carriage bolts from here.

I got some of the Maine grade SS hardware from west marine. Not the cheapest stuff. But from what I understand. It is strong and will not rust.

Your typical stainless hardware is in the range of grade 5 strengths. Side note, "marine grade" does not denote a hardness or yeild strength rating.

They told me it was Grade 8 marine grade... Guess I need to stop listening to the store reps. Not the first time they steered me wrong.

stainless hardware is not rated with the same "grade" system that higher carbon steel is rated at. it is possible for stainless to be alloyed in such a way that it achieves the strength of a grade 8, but it cannot be hardened via heat treating, like your standard steel hardware. they can however be work hardened, depending on the grade. if you see an 8 on the packaging or labeling, it is likely referring to the 8% Nickel in the alloy.

Google "300 series stainless" if you want to read more on the grading system.

Worked on another drawer in the toolbox tonight. This is the drawer that we all have, the one with the leftover nuts, bolts, screws, ect that collect after projects.

    More lights for Smokey!

These are Feniex Apollo F6 in amber/white. They are dual mode and will light up in all white as well as flash. Two of them will be in the rear bumper and double as reverse lights. I still need to figure out where the two front lights will live.
