It definitely takes some getting used too. I will probably have to rebuild my model and use different layers. As soon as one object touches another it creates a new surface. That makes moving individual components a challenge.

I loved using Pro-E for stuff like the flatbed back in college. moreso than solidworks. now i don't have access to either, so i just draw with the trusty old pencil

Yes. Layers are important. Also use the grouping and components features. The components feature is really nice if you have a lot of same parts. Change it once and it changes them all.

I'm using Pro-E right now at work. They renamed the software Creo.

They didn't sell it. They just wanted to rename it for some reason. I started using it when it was wildfire about 7 years ago.

I figure the composite bed is going to weigh a bit. Will be fun to find a scale and weigh this stuff. The biggest hit I'm going to take will be the jobox. That damn thing weighs 225lbs by itself.

I'll be losing 100lbs of rear bumper though.

when we were at the beach, did we do the math on the fuel and water tanks, or was that just volume calculations? those are going to be heavy too when they're full.

We did the math on the volume. I believe we calculated the tanks to be 7 gallons each, one for water and one for fuel. Seven gallons should be around 60lbs, so 120lbs of liquid if both tanks are full.

Oh, and I found this in the sketchup library. :D

I wouldn't say this was a change in the build, just a progression. I like my flatbed design due to having more storage, higher clearance, room for taller shocks, not having to worry about bedsides, etc..

The new transfer case is constantly on my mind. :D

    Because 4 speed!

beats me. he'll be half way there with the scrup bars, once the bed is done. bed is more compact and offers more clearance/versatility than a exo over a stock bed though.

Always save your work! The program just crashed and I stupidly hadn't saved. Oh well. I had the main hoop and side rails just about finished too.

Aww damn. That's why I always hit Ctrl-S about every ten minutes. Doesn't matter what CAD software it is, they always crash at some point.

Yeah, I do the same thing, but I got ahead of myself this time. Oh well, I'm building the model right this time instead of it just being a pretty picture.

I was hoping that TX/RX labs would have a few more fabrication tools for working with tube, but they don't. That means I need a tube roller and a bender. The harbor freight roller is cheap enough and has a ton of great reviews so I went ahead and ordered one with a 20% off coupon.

I also ordered SWAG offroad's wing extensions for the roller. Later on down the road I'll upgrade to the powered setup, but this should do for now.
