Well, the Kings didn't show up today like they were supposed too, but four out of five tires did. Now to figure out how to get them home. :D

Had so much preload on the driver side that I couldn't even budge the top collar. Thanks Amy for giving me a ride to the shop.

Dropped both sides six turns. May have to drop it more, but this should work for now.

They really should send a c shaped spanner wrench instead of the pry bar one. Ended up using an allen key to make a couple adjustments on mine

I'm going to see if I can make a tool for this. The t-handle toll they sell is still inadequate. Many other projects in front of this one though.

Got a few things done yesterday.

Trimmed the ARB so it won't eat my new Hankooks.

Beat the pinch weld like it owed me money.

Adjusted the SPC uca's to give me more positive caster in an effort to avoid cutting the fenders. We'll see how well that works out for me.

The way you turned the ball joints you actually decreased clearance at the rear of the tires though. Not sure if that will help you in saving the fenders

From my understanding positive caster moves the tires forward, but now I'm reading that by using the UCA to get the positive caster it might be moving the tire backwards. Now I'm

I'll do some more research and see what I can find. I'll talk to my alignment guy this evening to see what his opinion is.

You are moving the tire backwards. You literally moved the spindle back, but since the tire is attached to the bottom of the spindle it's not much. The problem though, is with the UCA set to that position, to get the camber and toe aligned you may have to reduce the caster via the cam tabs which would move the tire backwards as well.

To increase clearance you want to move the spindle further from the firewall. Since most UCA's are fixed, you achieve this by adjusting the cam tabs which in turn adds positive caster and why everyone says positive caster increases pinchweld clearance. Positive caster itself doesn't increase the clearance, but the way that we increase positive caster (ie cam tabs) just happens to increase the clearance as well.

If you have heimed uppers and solid mounted lowers you would actually want to add negative caster to move the tire further from the firewall.

Ok, I'm starting to understand all of this. So if I can move the spindle forward a degree or two and still get 2.5 to 3.0 degrees of positive caster I will have moved the tire forward slightly, correct?

I have the caster at 4.4 degrees right now, and it sucks. :D I'm getting too harsh of a jolt on every imperfection in the road as the spindle is traveling back towards me instead of upwards.

I'll probably adjust the UCA this evening and take it straight to the alignment shop.

Lots of positive caster is supposed to make it track better, but it takes more effort to steer. A lot of the LT guys are running 6+ degrees of caster. Having lots of caster should make it easier on your steering rack as well. I don't completely know the science behind those two though so I can't explain them. Just passing on what I read.

I think I am running a 3-4 degrees right now, and I feel everything, but my power steering pump is fucked... I'm pretty sure I don't have power steering anymore:pout:

More reading on this site than I can even remember and because I tried to do something very similar to what Smokey did. haha I was informed why it was wrong, I did some more reading and figured it all out.

Guessing if I have stock UCAs then I can't change my caster or camber or anything like that? Man I wish I had more money
