How long until you are getting new shocks? You can just run it without the rear shocks. I ran my DMZ setup for a couple months without shocks.

The back end is way too bouncy to not run the shocks, otherwise I would.

Probably a week or two before I order shocks.

Darn. Mine didn't hardly bounce at all, unless I hit a big bump. Then it got bouncy.

Yeah, I can move the back end up and down pretty easily. I pulled the shim, but I still can't get the top mount to line up. I'm about 3/4" off. Gonna re measure everything for the hundredth time and see what's up.

The drivers side was tight with the dakars as it was. :frusty:

Phill came to the rescue. We drove the truck around the block without shocks. That was a scary experience. :) after getting back we tried his pro comp six inch lift shocks again, and lo and behold they fit! Looks like things shifted into place just enough for his smaller diameter shock to fit. Yay! I can drive home.

We put my ome shocks in his truck for now. Need to get busy and order new shocks. Thank again Phill.

Yes. The next step is to build new mounts and pick up extended travel shocks. I'll get measurements later. It's time to go home!

No more progress to see until you order new shocks and they show up?

I had a quick search around for aftermarket Chevy springs and I found that Deaver makes a progressive 10 leaf pack for 4" of Chevy lift. Any reason you went with a 3 leaf pack over something with more leafs? From what I have read on the forums it sounds like moar thinner leafs = better, plus they would give more adjustment to pull a couple leafs and dial things in for a Taco. I'm lookin' at something like these

    Pretty much.

My leafs are a skyjacker 5" lift spring. They came with four leafs and an overload. I ditched the overload and the lower leaf to get the ride height I wanted.

Good progress! LOL at the 29" shock comment. Maybe 16ish?

A lot of the guys I've seen running 63's are running 12" or 14" shocks. The 3 I know of right off the top of my head (IDtrucks, rctoy, Slodgetto) are all running 14's that are triangulated. Though they are all 1st gens too.

    Here's king's 2.5" shock numbers:

I'll have to wait till this weekend to get my travel numbers, but I'm guessing I'll be picking out a 14 or 16" travel shock. My shocks won't be triangulated like the first gens though.

I also need to figure out how to put the spring keepers back on the leafs. Can't have the leafs walking side to side on me.

What was your method of getting the rivets out of the frame?

I've done it several ways. I've used a plasma torch to punch through the rivet after grinding the head off. I've ground the head off and left the rest. I've also ground the head off and used an air chisel to knock them out.

The rivets are a pain to get out with whatever method you use.
