I haven't. I'd rather not dull a bit trying to drill through a heat treated piece of steel.

Don't they make diamond bits or something like that? Just an idea.

Diamond coated bits are meant for glass, ceramics, rock, etc. They're not meant for steel.

Well any bits made for heat treated steel? Just seems like if there is one, it'd be easier to drill em out.

I ground the heads off used a slightly smaller drill bit to drill about half way through them and then an air chisel to pound them out. It seems to work best, but it still sucks...

Drilling them sucks just as much as any other method.

Grind heads, tack weld a bolt to the remaining portion (1/2" bolt I believe), and then a full swing with a 4 lb sledge with a 36" handle. Just make sure to wear safety glasses in case you don't it square and the bolt flies off at 100mph...

I want to see you take a full swing at the rivets inside the frame rail, then I'll be impressed.

Plasma works great until you bugger the consumable and melt the drag shield.

Here's the latest edition to the tool collection in the truck. This will compliment my Silky Big Boy limb saw quite nicely.

On another note, I have decided to rent a full bay at my shop. That means I'll be able to have a fully setup area with all of my tools in one place. To offset that cost I'm going to try and take on small side jobs. So if you need something welded up, a piece cut out on the plasma table, something powdercoated, or something else please let me know.

I'm not trying to make this a business, just trying to offset the cost of my addiction. :D

Only thing I really need done now is my cb mount. And now that you have a powder coater, I should probably pick some fancy colors.

I'll try to bring the piece of steel (<20, right) and the shape/idea I'm going for. Should some simple bending and cutting.

Since we're talking 20gauge or less we can bend it. I have a pretty cool wrinkle black powdercoat at the shop that would be perfect for the mount. Or, I have some blue sparkle. :D

If you want to buy a specific color of powder I would suggest going with Eastwood. The wrinkle finishes tend to hide sin better than the regular colors.
