Is it possible to have a coil over setup with this flatbed design instead of leafs and shocks?

Of course. I'll bet you can find some linked flatbed Toyota pickups with google. Once you link the rear though you lose a lot of your street drivability though unless you can integrate a rear sway bar but I haven't seen many.

@SMKYTXN- Your flatbed build with the coil over style shocks is the best I have seen so far. Im thinking if 2.0 coil overs will fit into the stock rear Tacoma axles, or do I have to change the rear axles to a Dana 60?

In order to run coilovers and links with a bed like mine you will have to run a wider axle. If you don't, you'll have to notch the frame and bed.

What type of wider axles that can fit Coil overs and links of your bed set up? Will Dana's work?

You're going to be building it from scratch so find whatever 1 ton axle you can get your hands on. A dana 60 or 14bolt should work nicely.

Thanks again for this response awhile back. I'm hoping to finally get around to doing this mod, but I forgot to ask you what gauge wire you used.

No worries. I ran 14 gauge dual conductor, that way I just tapped into power and ground as I went along.

How has your superwinch tiger shark winch held up? Happy with the overall quality and performance? How's it compare it others, ie warn? Anything you dislike about it? Any concerns with it failing? Currently debating purchasing one and curious to hear others experiences with this winch.

I haven't had a single problem with the tigershark. I've used it for several extractions and one self recovery. It pulled me up a set of ledges after I broke the rear driveshaft on a single line pull. I'd buy it again if I needed another winch.

Any progress on a traction bar setup? I'm starting to eye brackets and heims now. I need one bad.

I still need to build one for myself. My holdup is that I've lost access to my old shop, so I'm dead in the water as far as metal fab.

I am planning to build a twist-n-slip style traction bar though. With the amount of travel the rear axle has a traditional heim joint won't cut it. It will be very similar to this, except I won't have a shackle in the front. The front will me mounted with a heim joint and no shackle. There will be an inner and outer top bar. So when the axle rotates the outer sleeve will rotate on the inner. The outer will also be free to slip on the inner, but will still stop any upward movement. That will prevent my axle wrap. I just have to find a new spot to set up shop in.

Hmmmm interesting. You think the traditional design will limit flex with the 63's?
