That sounds like the radiator cooling fan clutch to me.

Well took care of the screeching noise and it turned out to be a worn belt, so now it sounds like a bad pulley but can't tell which one. So next question how would you find out which pulley it is if the serpentine belt controls all of them.

if its making a noise, put a hose as close as you can on each pulley and listen to the other end of it.

itll help you pin point the noise

Put a screwdriver to the pully bolt and listen you'll be able to tell which one is bad

Well took my truck to the dealership for the recall for the frame rust and found out what pulley was bad. The service adviser would not tell me which pulley that was causing the noise but explained on how much it would cost to replace it. So I kept on bugging him until he told me which pulley it was. Come to find out it was the lower pulley next to the AC compressor. So I ordered a new idler pulley and replaced it today. No more noise.
What is the normal wear and tear can you put on the serpentine belt. I bought it used with about 30k miles on it. I have 136k on it now. So I am asked how long can you go on the serpentine belt before replacing it. I don't know it it was replaced before I bought the truck or if it is the original serpentine belt.
Oh I also have a FJ too so I might want to change the serpentine belt so I don't have to replace any other parts. Thank you for your help.

    Fuuuu, subbed.

Looking forward to your follow up.

Oh, nevermind, looks like it was specific to the 4-banger.

I don't think I recall seeing serpentine belt replacement in the maintenance manual. Chances are when you bought the truck the belt has not been replaced. 136K miles on the belt is a long time. I would say replacement is between 75-100K mileage. We have 2 other trucks with the 1GRFE both close to or at 100K and belt still looks good.

The noise? It’s just a fact of life there is no “fix”.
