little, out of the way shops, no chain stores, as long as the CEL isn't on when you go in you may be fine.

Yep. As long as the vaccum diagram matches the design of the intake, they cannot. I repeat CANNOT fail your smog. I used to fight with smog "techs" at the test only places about this. All the CARB sticker proves is it has passed the ca emission test for design. Thats it. As long as your current setup matches the diagram, you cannot be failed. Thats why you get a "visual" inspection to make sure it doesnt have extra hoses or routing. They run your vehicle to make sure its withing the operating standards and check it to make sure your CEL is not on. The CEL is the computer saying that something to do with the vehicle is causing it to run in a condition where it will be polluting more than allowable. But its not perfect just and Id10t light. Hope this helps.

I have a K&N intake headers and magna flow exhaust with a s/c and took it to toyota and had no problems getting it smogged by them so I see no problem. Just insure any CEL are cleared before taking it in

This is comforting reading these replies. I'll be moving down to Cali within a month and i've got an aftermarket non-CARB approved intake, hopefully I dont have to go back to stock.

I personally tell no one anything. Let them figure it out. I wouldn't recommend this method for everyone as it can backfire

I just talked to Daniel over at Volant and he told me that if you take your truck to get smogged that it's going to fail visual just based on the fact the it doesn't have the stock carbon trap that is in the factory air box.
