Damn.. I saw "smoked a deer" and I was coming in to put in a request for some jerky.

    What a disappointment!

Mine was kinda like yours, cost insurance $9000 to fix. Mine had to have the fender replaced. OP I'd expect $7-10k to fix with the hidden damage

I could not believe Toyota did not have a bumper that extended past the radiator on both sides. There was nothing there but plastic. If I hit the deer head on my truck would have faired a lot better. I swerved to avoid the thing and hit him with the left front. I wonder how I would react if there is a next time.
Concerning the deer I am sure I would do the same thing and try to miss him. Concerning if I buy another Tacoma seeing how my truck took the worst of it over the deer Im not so sure. Toyota making me wait 2 months for parts didnt help.

This deer hit with its center of mass almost dead center to the bumper. The head likely did the damage to the passenger side bumper.

Arb summit bumper. Morimoto led headlights and new grill. Grill and lights have sequential turn signals.
My hit was similar, I went with a arb bumper, morimoto led headlights and replaced my grill on my own dime as it was not damaged.

To make the truck pass the offset impact test, and not crush your legs, the front bumper is what it is, including those seemingly useless wings off the bottom corners of the radiator frame.

2 in 3 months. That front bumper is brittle as can be.

Had to go out and hose the hair and other assorted bits of deer out today. Smell kept coming back.

Got a better look at the damage behind the plastics.
    1. All plastics definitely destroyed
    2. Metal support for the grill pushed in
    3. A/C condenser had smashed in fins
    4. Transmission cooler (I assume) has bent fins
    5. There is another line that has round fins around it. Those fins are bent.
    6. Passenger side wheel well liner broke
    7. Passenger headlight mounting tab broken off
    8. Passenger fog light busted off. Ripped connector off of the harness.

Still don’t think the fender or hood is damaged at all.

Small deer and she had her head down when it hit the front end. Part of the fluid spray was likely amniotic fluid as she was pregnant. Calf was half out of her when I went back to look at the scene.
