So I parked next to a newer silver streak taco at Home Depot today that had the OEM smoked headlights and my headlight mod didn't even look close. Mine look way blueish by comparison, and not nearly as even.

Mine looks *unique* and all, and cool in its own way ... but don't do this mod expecting it to look identical to the real deal. I'm thinking about picking up a can of duplicolor black chrome paint (the actual paint, rather than transparent blackout shadower) and redoing my lights with the paint. It might be a closer match to the OEM lights.

    Undecided at this point.

Yep! ^^^ I agree. I tryed it also, and it didnt turn out so great. I think a actuall black chrome paint with maybe 2 light coats will look alot better....

It looks good from afar, but up close it looks far from good.

Yeah, I know! I think a black chrome paint would look alot better! But not put it on real heavy, so its not dark.
    Just maybe 2 light coats.....

I touched them up with the same chrome blackout shadower that I used initially to get the effect more even, and they look WAY better.

I was going to use the duplicolor "black chrome" opaque paint instead but when I went to go buy it I didn't like the color of the cap on the paint can -- had way too much of a gold/bronze hue that would look terrible on a silver truck.

I'm very happy with the look I have now, although I emphasize that it looks way different from the OEM smoked headlights, so don't do the mod expecting it to look identical to the OEM.

Looks really good. That is exactly what I had planned when I did my BHLM, but I was afraid I would have trouble getting it to look consistent. I bought the kit and everything. Ended up using it only to black out my Toyota emblem on the grille.

I never got around to posting an updated pic after I touched up the lights with another coat. Here's a relatively current pic of my truck...very happy with how the smoked headlights came out...I like them way better than the stock chrome lights:

Thanks! I actually did it twice. The first time was my first time ever disassembling headlights and baking them in the oven and all that, and it took me a while to figure it all out. I'd say I wasted around 4 hours or so.

But the second time, after I knew what I was doing from the previous time, it only took 45 minutes, not including drying time of the black out coating.
