Snagged Up Again On Bilstein Install

I'm doing the method without a spring compressor...

I have the top nut off the coilover assembly and i loosened the lower control arm bolts. I let the jack out, it decompressed, but the lower control arm won't swing all the way down as shown in the video.

Not sure if the tension has been fully removed or why it won't swing down?

 

Try pushing the LCA down some if the spring is loose the take the bottom bolt out and continue on.

Loosen the lower shock bolt. Also, remove the sway bar from the truck.

i'm afraid to do it unless i know all the spring tension is gone :-D

 

You should remove ur uca from the spindle and remove the sway bar.

 

Disconnect the sway bar link from your spindle, push down on your LCA watch your lines and swing it out of the way. Just did mine last night as a first timer, things learned after doing the first side.

 

Put the jack back under the LCA and take up some of the spring tension. Remove the sway bar completely, as is will be in your way when trying to remove/reinstall the shock & coil. Loosen the lower shock bolt, but don't remove it yet. Then let the jack down and the LCA should drop enough to take all tension off the coil.

did u take off the upper ball joint nut and separate it from the upper control arm?
