By attached to the tailgate, is that just the glue holding it and then you put the armor over it? Did you get the 4" or XL size?

Just the glue. I put the original screws in the panel to line it up against then decided that I liked the look. The glue has an accelerator that you put on first, that makes it damn sticky and it works fast. You only get one chance so make sure you have it all laid out correctly before the install.

I believe that the gap shield brand is the one that attaches to just one side.

I almost forgot. If you decide you can't live without one I used a coupon code ADVENTUREBUILT15 which took 15% off the price. Every little bit helps :)

Did you happen to consider the Mountain Hatch? I"ve been thinking of doing something like this but can't decide between plastic and metal. Metal might get hotter but maybe looks better. The Mountain Hatch "might" be a bit nicer to sit or kneel on, but it's over-engineered (I don't need all the CNC work) and pricey. Not sure how well it fits over that ridge on the tailgate either. With the various coupons I found though it's about $30 more for the MH.

I did consider them. It was between Mountain Hatch and the SnailArmor. I went with the SnailArmor because it was metal, somewhat cheaper, and I didn't need a cutting board or cup holders. I just wanted a flat surface to make it easier on my knees and to be able to rest items, and SnailArmor fit the bill.

I currently have a piece of carpet Velcroed on the tailgate to make it more comfortable and I might leave it even with the flatter cover. The carpet makes a bit more flat (but stuff still tips over if I'm not careful) and easy on the knees and my camping stove doesn't slide around. Probably get the snail as well. Thanks for the feedback.

I have the snailarmor (flush screws) as well as the rokblock. Loving this setup. I do a lot of things around the house so having metal vs plastic just get more durable for my uses.

My snailarmor also came with a “prototype” cup holder too. Works really well actually and it doesn’t get in the way. Plus it’s removable.

I got the flush mount screws but didn't get the prototype cup holder. If it's removable I would have tried it but I don't think I'd use it much if at all.

Is that the default now or do you have to select the flush mount and cup holder? I didn't see any options other than engraving.

It comes with the machine screws (I think that’s what they’re called) so you have the option of using the stock screws which are raised or the machine screws which are flush.

the cup holder was just a throw in and I don’t know if they are selling it.
