Hello all I am new to the forum but I wanted to share my experience over the last week or so with my 2007 Tacoma 2.7L

I got a check engine light and as per usual I am very anal about not having any lights on the vehicle. It was my Evap Can gone bad so I went ahead and ordered a new Evap Can.

I for my life couldn't get the bolts to unscrew due to rust so I called my "trusty mechanic" to change it for me with specialized tools to remove the rust and grime with heat which are tools I don't have.

Anyways made the replacement and the problem should have been done but upon picking up the car I noticed that my SRS light had come on and I had never had an SRS light come on before so I asked him what was up with that. He hadn't seen the light on. I asked him what he did to the car to try and figure out why the SRS is malfunctioning now. He told me he replaced the evap can and then with a Snap On Tool (specifically Apollo D8) he cleared all faults so that my Evap code would clear.

Upon further research there was an issue 2 years ago with Snap on Scan Tools Damaging Occupant Classification Module (reference ( https://diag.net/msg/m1cgjxxvnwfho964ndt02zkkd8 ))

I called Snap On and they are looking into the Issue but for now I know for sure that my Sensor Airbag Assembly and the OCM are both "fryed" or for a better term the computer files corrupted.

This is going to cost me at least $1500+ in repairs because the only place that has the correct tools to fix the SRS is the dealership and boy do they bend ya over quickly with part prices and HRS.

Just wanted to share and give a heads up or hear from anyone else having this issue.

    Best Regards,

    Taco Taco Tuesday

There was a software issue in October 2017, correction made April 2018.
If it’s still happening, the tech is using an outdated scan tool or has not run the patch, which is free.

Tech has the latest update, it was a huge patch about a week ago. I’m pretty certain there is a bug in the system once again that is corrupting the files.
