This is my first post here mostly out of necessity.

My 2008 TRD Sport Double cab is nearing 224,000 miles and just today I was inspecting my leaf spring due to the wheel hop I was experiencing when accelerating normally from a stop, and a really rough ride over any sort of bump. I found that the bottom most leaf on the drivers side was completely snapped at the U-Bolts and resting on the axle.

When looking into replacing the leaf spring it seems that all aftermarket springs 1: provide a significant lift 2: are more expensive than I would've imagined. Is there any reliable aftermarket options for stock height leaf springs? Is my best option to go with an aftermarket leaf pack such as the Dakars pack? Money is definitely a factor however I plan on doing all the work myself.

No idea where you're at, but if you're in WA I just took my stock leaf pack off the other week. I left it with my mechanic, but I'd guess he still has them if you want them. They were on for about 30k miles, mostly on-road, with some light forest service/fire road mileage.

I'd grab a set of leaves from a 3rd gen that got lifted. In my area there are usually 2-3 sets on the various used places (Craigslist/marketplace)

There was a recall on broken leaf springs. Ask your dealer about recall E02:
    https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2014/RCONL-14V604-5982.pdf
    https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2014/RCRIT-14V604-1484.pdf

If your truck is eligible, you'd be able to get the leaf packs replaced for free.

Is this just a straight up bolt on or is there any modification required?

Bolt on, although you will need new u-bolts. You dont want to re-use them.

Where are you located? I have a set of used leaves off my '13 and some new u-bolts that might work too.

Fun fact. toyota never changed the suspension components from '05-now. So all the basic components are the same (UCAs, shocks, coilovers, leaves)
