Bummer. What kind of lug nut was that?

You could try a hammer and chisel to turn the remaining nut off.

Similar to this, but from the inside:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hS9fKZXJeA

Or you would try a large left hand thread drill bit or screw extractor. Something large enough to grip the outer lug remnants and hopefully turn it out before you get down to the stud.

From what i know its the oem lug nut.

The issue with using the left hand thread drill bit is that i would be hitting the lug nut stud and not the actual lug nut bits. Its threaded on alright but it somehow snapped so flush that its damn hard to remove even with the screw extractor since i cant get a grip on the side. :bananadead:

Small cold chisel the remaining flange part out or be super careful with a small drill bit. Sucks either way you risk damaging the rim underneath it.

OP, just take off the rest of the lug nuts, and pull the wheel off! That is just the shank of the bolt that broke off, so there nothing holding onto to wheel. The same scenario happened to me when I got new tires, the guy used too powerful of an impact gun, and broke the two price lug nut on the stud.

Even if it doesn't, it won't hurt to try. But the wheel should just come off. When you do have it off, you need some pliers or vise-grips to get the lug nut off of the stud.

So now this post will showcase what a normal lug nut (Oreilly OEM) vs the damage one(Toyota OEM).

Another look at the damage lug nut stuck on the wheel stud.

The solution to this issue was to use pliers or vice grip like @nickonfire700 suggested, then proceed to clamp down on the damage lug nut at the base. Then ask for someone to step on the brakes since the rotor will start to rotate if not held in place. After that you are good to go!

Excellent. I wasn't sure if the rim would come off with piece still on the stud. But now that I think about it, the shank of the lug nut is SUPPOSED to go thru the rim hole. Nice job.

Well, there's your explanation as to why it snapped. It was cross threaded.
