Arg. So I noticed I lost a lugnut. A little embarrassing but no big deal. 5 min at the dealership, new lug nut.... wait what it wont go on.

Damn stud rusted at the base and snapped off! Sooo pissed.. The weird thing is that I dont even live in a rust prone area. Well what looked like a $5 5 minute fix isnt so simple... what do I need to buy? New hub?

You might have to get a new hub or just the wheel stud part

    ouch...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the lugs are pressed in IIRC so you should be able to get them out too

The wheel stud is also about $5. Remove the caliper/ rotor. Use a drift to smack the old one out, install the new one with a few washers and a lug nut and bam back in action

to remove, I use a roto hammer and a pointed tip, knocks them out pronto...install as described with washers and lug nut until pulled flush in the back...

    That didn't "rust through"...

The last person to remove the wheels snapped off the stud, probably cross threaded the lug nut and kept tightening till it broke.

The safe way to remove and install wheel studs is to use a scissor-type balljoint separator:

Also, a Dorman new hub is about $80 with shipping. A worthwhile option if you think you will need to replace the wheel bearing soon:
