I'm looking at getting a winch, just ordered my front bumper (SSO hybrid, with bull bar, & 20" S8 cutout, raw steel (looking to do a raptor lining, or similar))... was looking at the smittybilt xrc gen3 12k comp... not a bad featured winch for $700... synthetic line, 7.0HP motor, sealed solenoid box, sealed motor/gearcase, lighted spool, forged gearsets, positive reading clutch lever, pull level indicator, and a 12k line pull.. more than sufficient for my tacoma that weighs just over 5klbs loaded with all my camping gear (and eventual sliders/skidplates, lift, tires, etc...).

Just make sure it'll fit. Most tacoma bumper manufacturers design around a 10k winch because that's what the majority of people run. Other smittybilt winches, the 10k and 12k are the same exact thing, minus the gearing ratios, so it'll bolt up just fine. Don't know about the new XRC though.

Check your pics, I just did. :D

But I say leave the 4x4, you wouldn’t be any less of a poser as most those instagram feeds anyway.

I just went 2 weeks ago; went through a mud hole but only because it was even more sketch going uphill on loose dirt in reverse; trail was too narrow to turn around in :anonymous:

    You're making a skid plate?

Only so we can deviate more from this thread; what gauge and how much does it weigh?

Such details; don't let those numbers get out and into the wrong hands! Next thing you know you've got someone mass producing your design and they put a patent on it

    *turns phone sideways*

Ah, build is in your sig.

It spins, just really tight had to adjust the center bolt and nut.

His channel is awesome, and until he said something about it, I just assumed my Tacoma could snatch most vehicles out like that...but alas, he has a lot of custom built suspension under that Jeep to deal with that kind of work. Still a lot to learn from his channel though.

That is called Carolina Squat. Went to Atlantic beach NC a month ago and they were ALL OVER. I asked a cousin and he explained that it's a local thing to the area we were in but mostly found in NC. Another cousin said he was at a gas station when a kid pulled in to fill up. He said to the kid..."You forgot the other half of your lift..."
