Sneak Peek at the 2JZ (Lexus Inline 6 Motor) I am Cramming into my Ex-Girlfriend's Engine Bay

Hands down that's the best place to put a beer when the engine is cold!

 

2jz is only just a little bit longer than the 5vz...

Anyone need parts? I'm in San Gabriel, CA. Not interested shipping. Just let me know before I get rid of this old thing.

Are the heads good on the 5vz?

 

If you reeeaally want me too I can pull the heads off and look. What had happened all I know is the camshaft had seized up while the motor was running and it sheared the pulley off the camshaft.

That being said...possible oil pump failure? So you would have to at least get the cam journals machined. Not sure if the valves interfered with the pistons.

My girlfriend said this happened on the freeway. She somehow she knew to put it in neutral and start it again and to my disbelief after seeing what happened it still ran briefly on three cylinders. The motor is a legend haha!

I do have injectors, alternator, fan clutch, etc. Which is still all good. But let me know if you want me to pull the heads to take a look at least if you're still interested after all that has been said...

 

I actually have the transmission for sale on Craigslist by the way. Any motor parts are first come first serve for you guys though. Just want them to go to a good home if anyone needs any of that random BS stuff

Wow. If you feel like zipping them off and playing detective I'm down - otherwise I'll pass - I've got some waiting to be torn down I want to port.

The guy left them sitting in water and shipped them without enough padding and the spar plug tubes got all dented up. But the heads themselves should be good - still gotta take the valves out and give them a good once over. I'm just bummed because he sent me a pic of them before he let them sit when they were all cherried.

It's always discouraging when you have everything plugged in but nothing happens. Just waiting to see a green light go on around the ignition key. I hear relays clicking when I connect to the battery, but that's it...

Just need to keep digging and see what else I can find.

I also have waffle fingers after touching the underside of the thing that clearly says don't touch....

 

I had just sold it yesterday, sorry :/

 

Alright little update here after a few days of messing with this I now have blinkers, headlights, all of the engine management system is up and getting power where it should be with the key in the run position. Only thing I'm not getting yet is just power to the steering wheel tilt mechanism and actual engine crank over along with no green light around the ignition key.

Will keep you all posted. This is going to turn out pretty cool guys.
