Snorkel won’t give you performance gains either. It’s also not for water really, it’s for dust. 3rd gen Tacomas don’t do well in water above the bottom of the doors.

From what I’ve personally heard, MBRP exhausts are very raspy. Carven, TRD, Borla, Corsa are more mellow, deeper sounding.

I’ve got the Borla s-type and after 4 years I still love listening to it. But again, zero performance gains.

If you want to add 15 or so tq/hp, get a tune. Everything else will be just noise.

I originally wanted to buy a snorkel and an exhaust because when I'm entering on the highway the Tacoma feels like it wants to accelerate but it can't. Essentially it feels like I'm lugging a trailer or something heavy. I was planing to get a snorkel and an exhaust to kind of increase the acceleration and to get more air into the engine and decrease backpressure so more exhaust fumes can exit the engine. For this purpose should I purchase them?

Sir, for the third time, no

Tune is the only way to increase power besides a supercharger.

Most guys install snorkels on Tacoma because they get a front steel bumper and the wheel liner is removed in the process. So the stock air box is exposed and that’s where the snorkel comes in.

since the tacoma is already essentially a cold air intake i got the kn series 57 which is a straight intake tube that replaces the stock one with the baffles, and a high flow k n filter. also added the trd flow accelerator. definitely a difference in sound, tiny bit better mpg, and a tiny bit more hp on the butt dyno

Not a chance that you gained tiny bit better MPGs with your set up.

Well math doesn't lie lol. I calculated my mpgs on the last tank, not what the screen says, and i gained 1.5 mpg. Screen also reflects the same mpg gain. No change in driving habits or places that i normally drive.

Toyota went to great lengths to try to squeeze out an MPG or so with “Atkinson cycle” and direct injection. 3.5L uses same intake as a 5.7L tundra, it gets more air than it needs.

In modern vehicles, intake do absolutely nothing except add noise.

If Toyota knew they could squeeze out a whooping 1.5MPGs simply by tweaking the intake, trust me they would.
