No that snorkels are even more popular than ever with new brands left and right I’m hoping someone has made a better looking “collector”.

Here’s is what I am working with. Personally I think I the snorkel top I am using is pretty dumb.

Are there any better looking options that might look better?

I’m not really sure why you only raised your intake by 6”. I have only seen this style and the dome ones similar to the HMMVV.

This is basically cowl intake which a lot of folks on here are doing. I would absolutely go for this.

Edit: getting the intake out of the wheel well is a big plus in my book even if it’s not much higher. What brand is that?

I like what you did with your KC covers too. Subtle.

What is the purpose of a snorkel unless you also raise the vent for the transmission?

^OP's truck appears to be built for desert running. Snorkel there is to get the intake out of the wheelwell (since he has no fender liners).

For water crossings, your interior will flood before the intake is submerged. If your region has deep water, a snorkel should come after you've replaced the foam insulation under your carpeting with something waterproof.

I don’t have wheel liners so I wanted it up out of the way. Also helps with some water crossings. Not snorkel level obviously.

Yep. I don’t have wheel well liners so I made this. It’s just a generic snorkel top I got from either Amazon or summit. Then a piece of aluminum pipe and a couple silicone elbows.

Thanks! Had them custom made. The gray is supposed to be close to the body color. KC has a template that you just send to your local sticker person.

Ding ding! Exactly. I was left with a big open hole in my wheel well. This was the best solution I could come up with.

If there is water deeper than my snorkel (honestly even up to my door frame) I’m going to try my damndest to find a different way. Snorkels might help your intake but your interior is a different matter.

All of my vent lines are raised up as well.

But even without…water in your diff/trans (manual as I don’t know what happens when you water in an auto) isn’t the end of the world. However water in you engine and subsequent hydro locking is.

Pretty limited on buying a new head type by itself. Basically a scoop or a pre-cleaner style head.
If you don't mind the size and just want to try something different, then give a pre-cleaner a go. (Looks like you might already have to remove that head to open your hood anyway? So it probably doesn't matter re: size)
ARB makes a pre-cleaner that's not too hard to find via 4WP and others:

I've seen the Sky-Klone one as well:

And Donaldson cleaners are easy to find on Amz:

    https://www.amazon.com/Donaldson-H001249-Original-Pre-Clnr/dp/B015YR82TE?crid=ZWSCN913Z20X&keywords=snorkel+pre+cleaner&qid=1662418702&sprefix=snorkel+pre+cleaner%2Caps%2C118&sr=8-5

**I've seen Jeeps running the shorty pre-cleaner heads but never a Tacoma. Obviously they can still open hood, but as far as looks, I'm not mad at it, could work for ya

    Example:

That’s rad! Looks nice and serves the purpose. Could you post pics of the snorkel head as well as interior please? I looked into cowl with a small scoop and right when I decide to wait you posted this…

So there are a ton of these on Amazon, but here’s one example. They are all the same, just “different” vendors.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QDJXZ5B

Here’s a crappy pic I have of the inside. I can get a better one tomorrow. It’s basically: intake hole > silicone 90* elbow > aluminum tube > silicone 90* elbow > snorkel head.

clean set up! Although i expected you to have plugged the original intake hole, drilled in the air box and firewall for the cowl. Great truck overall man, looks fun as hell to drive

I have some stupid looking 6” fiberglass fenders that I could probably park a bus under. So I ran the intake out there. :)

Ha. Thanks. Sometimes I feel like they are a bit wide. Can’t complain I guess. They do the job.
