All I know is everyone should be VERY careful hooking the pipe up. Like I said before, if you seen the air flow charts I have with turbulence and friction loss it would blow you away. Oswego is getting a lot better mpg because as far as I have seen his is setup one of the least restrictive ways. That rubber intake tubing is hell, and 90's are equal to 10' of straight. Just giving the only input I have lol

Would using a hole saw work? I have sizes 2.5"-7' at my work. Might try that

Using a Dremel with cut off wheel is the easy safe way. Using a hole saw on a bent piece of thin sheet metal sucks.

I have a few little things Im gonna use to cut it. Probably just reds after I punch a hole through it. Never used a dremel before so Im going with what I know. How important was the primer/cocking?

No I am not an engineer so yes you are right I should not have stated it as fact(edited post to opinion). However the crumple zone on the fenders are only designed to work with a truck in complete stock condition. This includes stock height, stock bumpers, stock tires, stock suspension, sways bars and no additional accessories attached to the exterior of the fender like a snorkel. The absolute minute you change one of these items the entire geometry that makes up that crumple zone has changed and essentially become null and void. So I would be F***ed in any situation where a lawyer chose to take a sue happy route against me.

Additionally isn't that crumple zone designed to work with an offset front end collision? Now my truck will take the maximum impact to the frame and my ARB Bumper because I have changed that dimension.

I will talk with GeoTaco more when he comes over before proceeding.

Why no rust? Im literally touching the Atlantic ocean ( I could probably hit the water with a rock from my driveway) so rust is hell around here. I might have to as well

All I know is the bad ass IFS & SAS trucks reinforce everything not cut it away. I had to cut & trim as well but not into anything structural & I'm not going to indorse it here where people will read this 5 years from now and think it's a good idea. I looked back on threads that were from 2005 in TTORA when researching the GB last fall/winter and no one was cutting or modifying their engine bays.

Hell, I relocated my windshield washer res 1" so I wouldn't have to cut more then I did. All I know after helping a couple people install theirs is cutting isn't required at all. Test fit - Test fit - Test fit.

X3. I believe Oswego was the one that originally did this but there could have been others before him.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
same here. from comparing mine to kevin's, mine is about 1/4" further forward than his. still only have the one bend at the end of the snorkel, then it's slightly bent intake hose to the stock filter. also had to put in some black RTV at the front to fill the gap and smooth it out.

Yea, sorry I didn't caulk yours. You should of asked. I was busy getting my drink & tomato eating on :D Next time I see you Ill throw a bead on it.

Here are some pic's regarding the gap/fit of the guys local to me that I helped.

A 3/8" to 1/2" gap is present in the front before sealing. Of course all the others I caulked look better then the job I did one mine.

And here is mud & shit that was almost into my intake before installing the snorkel

You are absolutely right that it will fit exactly to the hole. We have seen this multiple times on this thread and that is good to know. Ultimately it will be GeoTaco's decision on what he wants to do so I will let him make that decision.

Maxpower makes very good points about the drag caused by the bends so if GeoTaco decides to make changes to the design to possibly increase the performance I am fine with it.

As far as crumple zones go and opinions I will have to agree to disagree with you and leave it at that. Don't want to implicate or temp anyone to do anything more.

How hard do you guys think it will be for me to line up the snorkel tube with the stock air box? remember my 2.7 air box goes right over by the hole.
