Cut the snorkel then. You can move it and maintain your a-pillar location. The A pillar mount is adjustable. Mine can move much farther back if I choose to. My current location has the adjustable bracket maxed out with the only adjustment towards the rear and so did the others. Worst case you'll need to elongate the bracket's holes and throw some paint on it to move it back or just drill some new holes in the bracket.

How does your snorkel line up with your antenna?

Here is what we trimmed off of the oblong tube

and what we trimmed off of the snorkel itself

    ^^^^^^^^.... ok so

I thought of cutting the snorkel but was not sure if I could do that and still maintain a good hold, I am glad to know thats possible. I believe that the tube with about 1/4 inch or more cut off the actual snorkel would fit perfect.

I considered moving it outside, but I really really really like the line I got out of it and how it is currently sitting, not to mention if I move it I will be showing holes.

I am going to try the method of cutting the snorkel it self and see how that goes. If it does not work then I can always try the cutting of the inner fender, my only worry is the washer tank is right there and so I may have some adjusting.

One thing I would like to point out.... For fun today I decided since my snorkel is on to run a crappy y pipe from the CAI to the snorkel and to the inside of the fender... Its one of the flexible cheese numbers but let me tell you.... HOLY BUTT DYNO! I dont know if its just me but I was freaking flooring it today!

By the way, I am sure this has been said already but I wanted to just throw this out there in my own words.

To all you TW people on here that made this happen THANKS. One of my favorite things is having a community behind the insane stuff I like to do and this is one of them. I appreciate all those who offered suggestions to help make this snorkel happen, I appreciate the OP who made the group buy happen, and I appreciate the fact that no matter how much we as users screw up, there are 5 people ready to help out.

    Thanks guys...

    Your welcome

I have learned a ton on here and it's always nice to return the favor when I can. It also hopefully offsets the times I'm a douchebag on here :D

haha my favorite thing is when its warm enough to put the windows down, and I rip it around. you can hear the snorkel sucking and it sounds soooo good.

Another thing I just thought of that Virgil told me, doesnt affect the fitment of the snorkel at all, but if you think its too tall, you can trim some from the top so the head sits below the roof. I personally like how tall mine is though.

Wait, what are you trying to say, that the throttle feels more responsive at high speeds?

^^ What I was saying is it felt way more responsive at all speeds and It was the first time I have ever felt that my CAI actually was making a difference. That being said after much debate and research I am probably going to loose the CAI and go back to a standard intake + snorkel. I am however working on a way to not run 3" tubing but rather run 4" tubing as the stock airbox on the 09 has 4" tubing.

I did not want to use exhaust or aluminum as it will heat up and reduce the engines efficiency and power. I know I can wrap it but to me its just a pain. I would like to go with something insulated like the CAI and am going to try and use the CAI tube + stock filter. I did a test with a temp sensor gun and the air in the cai tube compared to the air in the stock air tube was almost 15* cooler. The CAI box was 25* cooler. I can only imagine that the metal tubing would be way way way hotter.

So far the only issue with using the CAI tubing is that there is a whole for a sensor and that must be sealed. I am going to just use a custom silicon plug w/rtv to seal it. Other than that there is no way it would leak and its way more insulated than it looks. Its also 4" in diameter and that should help airflow.

I am almost done building both set ups and will run each one for 1 full tank of gas to compare mileage. I also have a obdII gauge on its way to find out real mileage and other info to report back.

it wont matter if you use a 4 inch hose to connect the snorkel to your intake...your snorkel is still only 3 inches and the elbow of the snorkel is the smallest part...no matter how big you make that connecting hose, the engine will only be able to take in an amount of air that the elbow's size can provide you. hope this helps you avoid any unnecessary planning and buying of materials. :)

Im having an issue with the clearance between the snorkel and my quarter panel wall. I was getting horrible gas mileage and crawled up under the truck to see what was up and the rubber elbow had somehow come off. For now, the snorkel is cosmetic until I can take it off and fix it. damnit.

Did you lose the rubber intake hose? that sucks.. if you used hose clamps i dont see how it could come off though

Ya I know, but I trimmed almost all of the elbow off so its almost a strait pipe from the snorkel, but even at that I am sitting just under 3". The main reason I wanted to do it that way is because I wanted to have everything easy to remove and to still use stock items.

You may have to do what I did and pick up a different connection. I did a reducer from 4-3.25 and it works like a champ.

Nice. I want to get one real bad but I have a tool box in the bed and everything I've heard is that I wont be able to have the bestop and the tool box unless I switch to a different style tool box.
