So here in the Memphis area we recently got several inches of good powder like snow. While out driving an untreated road, it got pretty thick and I found myself having to hold the steering wheel to the left (about 10:30 - 11 o'clock position) to maintain my lane of travel for a few hundred feet. I was in 4H by the way. Anyway I get up the road just fine bit I notice a minute later that my traction control light is on. Never seen that before. I tried to do a little fish tail to see if the nanny systems would kick in and keep me straight but I had to swap to 2 H and come to a stop... I wasn't trying to get too wild out there. When I got it to slide out a bit the VSC didn't kick in at all.
I did some google searches and found the sticky thread of "Resetting VSC" and also found a thread about a steering angle sensor. I'm not sure witch direction I should go here. I posted in one of those threads a couple days ago but it seems it's not getting noticed. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and by the way. On this same outing. I found out I had a headlight out. I stopped and got some new bulbs and while putting them in yesterday I disconnected the battery... to make more room for me... and I wanted to see if disconnecting the battery would reset my light. It didn't.... light is still on and my traction control button is still useless and doesn't work.

If the VSC light will not go off.
You may need to see if there is a code for the VSC system.
Most scanners that’s can read ABS will usually read them.

Well, the scanner things at Auto Zone are not able to read a code. I guess I have to go get bent over at the dealership.

I would try resetting the vsc by the thread's directions. As long as you don't put the wire somewhere silly it won't hurt anything and is free. I don't think it's your steering wheel sensor personally.

I live in snow for 6 months of the year. Twice earlier in my truck's life I had the the traction control light come on, with one other light I think it was. I forget the exact error, but my $12 OBDII bluetooth module and the Torque Pro app showed me the exact code, and reset it. Once reset it went away and did not return. They happened about 1 year apart. Has not happened since.

I just did the VSC reset and that seems to have fixed it. Everything is back to normal now.
