I found out turning off traction control and stability control makes the truck a lot more fun in the snow. Never used CC to get unstuck though, just did the old fashioned way.

I live in the mountains in Colorado and my drive to work is 20 miles of dirt/gravel back roads. There was a snow storm on my way into work the other morning. There were snow drifts a couple feet deep across the road and blowing snow made for super low visibility as well. My ‘17 off road Tacoma got stuck in one of the drifts right in the road.

4low, locking the rear differential, multi-terrain select and crawl control did not get me out. They only dug me deeper. I made some real slow progress with a shovel and some traction boards (at 4am in the dark and blowing snow… not fun). Finally a coworker with a much bigger, lifted truck pulled me out. I was able to follow his tracks and make it to work.

In summary: crawl control did not help me get unstuck in the snow.

From my experience and I too 4wheel for fun . One time I was stuck in some snow and ice . I wasn't high centered or barried . My tires dug through the snow and I was stuck on the ice pack . Tried 4hi spinning tires , 4lo with locker nothing tires spinning, finally let's see what crawl control can do . I have 285/75/16 km3's and honestly I doubted the system. But I'm hard headed. I hopped out and proceeded to air down to 14psi got back in truck . Engaged crawl and put in drive, holy Batman balls we are actually getting forward movement , with help of turning steering back in forth. Ok let's try reverse with the lower gear ratio. Eventually after about 10 minutes of using crawl control and forward backwards of the steering and moving truck back and forth I was able to get unstuck. Now from my experience yes crawl control helped in my situation of snow. Now when I was in moab i maybe used crawl once and just to see how it was. All I gotta say it's another offroad gadget for my truck that I'm glad i have . I didnt have to get out and use my winch lol . I'm lazy

I have used crawl control as a hill descent control for a safer descent on an icy road that I couldn’t turn around on or back up on. I was glad to have it at the time. It kept me from having to touch the brakes at all.
