I don't know why you're getting snow on the filter, but the filter should be turned 90 deg so the pleats are oriented transversely. :anonymous:

It's not the same post as the other one, I just used his photos cause they were similar to my issue, I did not take any photos of my cabin air filter that's all.

I went to the Toyota dealership today, they had my truck for 1 hour and they couldn't find any issue so they told me if it happens again is to bring it by.

It would have been better if he had made a note that those were not his pictures. OR, since he found the thread that the pictures were on, he could have just resurrected that thread and said "me too."

I know toyota has a TSB for the cowl for snowy climates but I assumed it was for 16-17 only. It was a full cowl replacement to a different pet design. Perhaps it’s for all 3rd gens

I have had the cab filter actually freeze on me one winter and it was blocking all air flow one cold morning and broke my plastic cover cause it was that cold. Wondering if water or moisture gets in and yea this explains alot

Oh great. Now next blizzard warning travel not advised, extreme white out conditions, I will have to go on a joy ride to see if mine does it.

Unless you open the hood with a bunch of snow on it , I wouldn’t think you shouldn’t have any problems

I'm the OP of the other thread. Toyota dealer didn't fix it. I guess they need a certain # of complaints before there is a TSB for it.

There's a big gap between the cowl and the hood, so any snow left beneath the wipers will be sucked into the vent. I don't have other Toyota vehicle besides a Sienna to compare, but the gap between the cowl and the hood is very tight on the Sienna. So fresh air for Sienna is from beneath the hood.

What I did last summer was to tape shut about 1/2 of the vent holes on the cowl from the passenger side towards the driver side. So fresh air and snow will have to travel a bit further from the driver holes towards the intake on the passenger side. It helped a bit this winter, the windshield didn't fog up right away but eventually it would suck enough snow in and clog the filter again. I carry an extra filter to swap it out when one got clogged. Maybe I'll tape all the vent holes on the cowl shut this summer. Hate doing this, since I had to break some clips or something on the way. Hopefully I won't pass out from suffocation.
