Any of you guys ever use the locking diff in the snow? I know you're not supposed to above 10mph and I've never done it, but always tempted.

My favorite is get to the parking lot or wherever in 4wd, then throw it into 2wd, and do a long press on the VSC button. This turns auto LSD and the TRAC OFF light comes on. if you throw it back into 4hi, it'll show the 4wd symbol and TRAC OFF.

So far this is the most "fun" way to whip the taco in the snow. As others have said, I think AWD is actually a better system for what people think of with drifting, doing donuts in the snow at high speeds but in a controlled way.

    All the time.

This particular time it was all
Fun and games until it wasn’t. 7 hours of trying to get the fuck out of that forest.

Made it home, just ripped my rear ABS wire. Taco is a beast.

    But I will
Say that a double locked Jeep
    On 35s saved my bacon.

In my experience, the rear locker has no perceptible advantage over ATRAC in snow. I don't know anything about a 10 mph limit on the locker. Many (all?) drag race cars are locked in the rear and go 300+ mph, but they go in a straight line. Locked differentials interfere with steering. People seem to forget how awesome an invention was the (open) differential.

This guy is an expert off-roader, albeit a bit of a snow novice from what I have seen, and has some thoughts about lockers vs traction control in the snow.

    Ahaha

Yeah, I’ve had those experiences as well in my early 20s. Still my 35 YO dumbass at times wants to go out in the forest full of snow.

How do you like this one? The fireplace has been lit for over 12 hours yet it's still frosted at the bottom. Currently colder outside than Alaska...:bananadead:

What about pushing A-Trac, and also locking the rear diff? The logical reason in my head for the limit on the taco (and why I've never pushed it) is that it's electronically locking. Drift cars and drags cars it'll be actually mechanically solid and maybe even welded. I just don't know how sensitive it really is to being pushed above a certain speed. A-Trac can only be activated in 4-lo I believe on the TRD OR and PRO with manual trans
