OK so a little while ago I got in from plowing in my trusty, crusty old 89 toyota pickup. Got the truck and plow for free 11 years ago. Crappy old fisher speedcast and the control valve freezes up on it. Only goes up and down now, directional control has a mind of it's own. Truck has a junk battery, is rusty, and basically I'm getting sick of dealing with both the old truck and even more so the old plow. I can't do anything this year but I'm thinking next year I might put a plow on my 05. The only setup I've seen up close is the Fisher homesteader. I know these work fine (and I can always seem to find them cheap on CL) but I hate the mounting setup being SO low to the ground. Anyone have photos of their Meyer or Blizzard setups? How's the mounting setup? I've also looked at some of the inexpensive front hitch mounted plows but I question their durability. But I would to hear some feedback if anyone has them. I just plow my own driveway. Way to big to use a snowblower. And it's dirt. Occasionally I use my current plow to push sand/dirt back up my rear driveway when it washes out in thunderstorms too. I doubt a hitch-mount setup could take that abuse.

You'd be better off to just buy an old plow truck off Craigslist or something for the amount of money it costs to put a mediocre-at-best plow on a 2nd gen. They're just not well suited for plowing. A $2000 f250 will serve you better than a $3500 plow set up for your truck, and save it from the wear and tear of plowing.
