I run Nokian Hakka R3 SUV’s on both my SUV and my Tacoma. They’re better than the Blizzak WS90s I’d run previously.

I’d rather have a more modern traction and AWD system so I tend to take the SUV in the snow but the tires make a world of difference.

3rding the X-Ice on my Outback.
Driving up from West Yellowstone at 70 on the 2 lane in ice and I could feel them wanting to slide but they held.

I looked at tread depth. I was all over the place and almost went with the continental viking style xtreme 7 or whatever it’s called. It was gonna be almost 200 cheaper than the blizzaks but they only have 10/32 tread depth. Michelin are pretty shallow too but not that bad. I have the x-ice on my first 4Runner and was underwhelmed by them. For a p rated winter the DM-V2 has the deepest tread and their pedigree is terrific. I had the Blizzak W965 on a previous Tacoma and I found the 10 ply winters don’t have the same traction on rough hardpack or ice because they don’t flex as much for better contact. That was my impression anyway.
