I used to use trail head deflators, but they’re very slow on 40” tires. Now I just use a core remover and pull the code out. And a low pressure tire gauge so measure the pressure down low. I got the gauge off Amazon.ca. It’s 1-20 psi I believe. Great for me since I only air up to about 18.

This setup is cheap, and fast. For airing up I just use a arb compressor and time it for 3 mins if I’m at 4 psi. Airing down takes less than 10, and airing back up takes less than 15.

The gauge I linked actually does that: removes the core, and you control, or check what your down to, and stop and replace the core. Sooo much faster than the valve.

When you engage his, it pulls the core. Then you monitor it with the gauge on it. When you disengage it, it puts the core back in.

That is why it has those twisty knurled parts at the top, you twist one when you put it on and it pulls the core.

I know exactly how it works. I’ve used them. And that’s why i don’t have one haha. They’re slow and finicky.

My bad, it seemed like you didnt know :burp:

I put my ARB air up tool, on 1 front tire, then go to the back tire and use my key.

So I do 2 tires at once, and just count down from 30, and I am pretty good with the look of my tires now. I can see when they are close to what I want.

Check with my digital gauge until I get them where I want them.

In today’s instalment of “know your equipment”

    500 feet of winching!

Came down all sorts of nasty stuff on this cutline. Luckily we were doing in the slightly easier direction. This long climb needed to be winched from the very bottom for my friend in the Jeep, and about 1/3 of the way up for me. Really fun time though. Lots of challenging driving.

my friend kept a good attitude dispite having to pull his long steel winch line up this hill half a dozen times. Synthetic made mine less of a struggle. Made sure to let give my winch a few breaks in every full line pull I did. Losing a winch on this would’ve been a nightmare. We’d still be there.

Lost just one bead today. And it wasn’t me, what a miracle.

Well equipped rigs with smooth operators make a potentially ugly day into a fun one

Thanks for posting your pics and vid's in this thread @Spoonman. Your knowledge and eye candy are exactly what I had in mind when I made it.

I am just about to get a winch myself. Should have it all set for the start of summer and get some practice in before next snow wheeling season, then I can do some things that right now just look impossible. :bananadance:

I like snow. Not so fond of dropping thru ice into the creeks tho! I’m on 315’s this year, aiming to be on 37” for next year. And planning to have the damn thing ready.

This was fun trip. Early January this year, before I tore the truck apart. It snowed a good 6” on us in an hour that morning. So much fun.
