The second pic is the Toyota crossbar. It didn't work for me. They designed it wrong. I should sell it & get my money back. I designed the L2S Sport Rack Brackets to mount Thule & Yakima accessories to the toyota bed cleats. It's awesome. Several Toyota dealerships carry them now. This is what it looks like:

X2 I'm interested in getting one as well. I have a Yakima rack system, but I don't want to mount it on the roof.

1st post. subscribed. and i don't own a taco yet.

hopefully by the middle of next year. i have Yakima racks on my '00 Mazda 626 and it would be pretty cool to mount them my future truck. especially if i end up trading the 626 in for a few grand of lowly bluebook. this mod looks slick.

yakima made, and still might make, a setup called the lowrider. they were designed to attach to factory roof racks with raised side rails, mostly things like suvs. anyway, i had an extra set of these laying around in my garage and got bored the other day and said hmmm, i wonder if.... sure enough they mount to the factory bed cleat tiedowns perfectly. all you have to do is turn them around they clamp on great. you could find these parts cheap on ebay or craigslist or something.

That's the Toyota crossbar setup that didn't work for me. They designed it wrong. I saw someone using it with a basket, that works. But for attaching a variety of sports gear, it didn't do it for me. That's why I came up with the L2S sport rack bracket to attach Thule & Yakima accessories. I'm actually meeting with some Toyota reps at the SEMA show in a couple weeks to see if we can do something with the after market products. We'll see what happens.

Yep...www.love-2-surf.com is where you can buy &/or find a dealer near you. If you're not near one of the dealers IM me & I'll hook you up. I'll even give you better price. As far as functionality, The L2S Sport Rack system doesn't really work for anything over ~10' in length, you'd need a high rise rack. However, one of the benefits is that on the Toyota rail system you can slide the system out of the way in seconds to load other gear something that doesn't really work with the high rise. Here is an artilce that explains a bit more http://surfaddiction.wordpress.com/2010/05/14/thule-yakima-truck-racks/ If you have questions or need some help, let me know. Here's another pic in case that helps.

You can get Yakima Landing Pads in many different sizes, mount them to your bed rails, add Yakima Control Towers, crossbars, and any rack you choose. The bummer thing is that you have to drill holes in your bed rails to mount the Landing Pads, the good thing is you can usually find the components used for cheap. If you don't want to drill holes, you will have to spend more money.

I don't mind a couple of holes, and with landing pads you can remove the whole rack set up very easily.

    This is my set-up,

Color matched grill w/ grillcraft. BHLM and Morimoto Mini HID's Debadged.

Toyota discontinued those crossbars. Not sure why. I ordered the inno racks towers and crossbars for the C-Rails on my bed. I put a Yakima FatCat6 and 2 Boa bike racks on it, but you can put Thule racks on the crossbars as well.

    http://www.orsracksdirect.com/inno-rt101-rt102-truck-racks.html

Get the RT102's with 65" bars. I rattle-can painted mine to match the black of the bed liner.
