Atleast you didn’t build an entire new axle cause you didn’t want to cut the spring perches off of it...

Inching forward. Pulled the tie rod and got the upper link in after work today. I should have 5” of bump at 23” frame height on 37’s. Everything cycles cleanly for 12” shocks. Pulling the knuckles to send them to Front Range to be machined Monday.

Hit a stopping point for the next week and a half. Knuckles are shipped to FROR for machining, waiting on them to come back so I can finalize the steering and panhard angles. Unfortunately I can’t order steering from Ruffstuff until whether I know if I’m going over the steering arm or under the steering arm.

I ended up redoing the driver side motor mount to push the engine up another 1/2-3/4”, the steering resi is basically resting on the hood now but it gave me clearance to run another 1.5” of uptravel by opening up more clearance from the upper link to the motor mount.

No shortage of projects in the garage while I’m waiting on parts though...one week and I’m off to Charlotte for the first race of the year so the karts have consumed the other side of the garage for now

I was partially being a smartass, but they did send me a chinese pilot bearing which seized in less than 40k miles and almost ruined my trans input shaft ($700+ from toyota not including my time to change it).

Ah. Well hopefully they would stand by their mistake and make it right if you're input shaft did suffer the consequences

How did you break the engine with it on jackstands in the garage? :D

I just know it wants to hurt me...

Actually, I’m dropping the oil pan to reseal it today and I’m curious how the bearings are doing. No oil pressure problems to speak of since I rolled new bearings in it with a new pump.

New parts day has arrived. Kudos for Brian and front range for answering my questions and getting me going in the right direction timely with blank arms I can drill however I want for steering. Now I can mock up steering and order the correct y-link end

Sweet, I assume you are running heims for the steering?

If not that fj80 reamer is expensive as hell and hard to get, at least according to Parts Mike when they broke 2 of them making my pitman arm!

I’ll go GM 1-ton rod ends. Ruffstuff makes an awesome kit that they can ream for under or over the knuckle steering. Fortunately the GM reamer is like $90 too. If I keep my current pitman arm, I’ll convert it to GM taper instead of 80 series

Ruffstuff under the knuckle steering kit is ordered, I got the new steering arms on tonight and I kicked around crossover steering but I ran out of room at full stuff on the passenger side so I’ll stick with the GM y-link style

You will need to notch that frame or limit your up travel as well. My steering clears the frame at full bump like yours, but once that pax tire is flexed up and the wheel turned the links are into the fre rail. I think you will have the same problem unless you are going under the arm or something like that.

Going to run the steering under the steering arm so I don’t have any clearance problems. It’ll make it easier to get the angle of the panhard and drag link lined up too.

You’ll have to drill the hole pretty far towards the edge. Even with helms I have to run mine on top of the steering arm for the heim and bung to clear at anything more than full bump because of how far inward they mount.

Are you talking clearance from the drag link to the steering arm?
