I recently picked up a used Snugtop camper shell for my 2005 Tacoma and I'm having issues with the latch on the passenger's side of the back window. When I got it it was missing the strike loop on the passengers side but I figured that would be a quick and easy fix. I got a new strike loop and installed it but the latch doesn't want to catch when I close it. Here's a link to a short video I took of the latch, sorry for the not great quality but hopefully it gives a better idea of what I'm talking about: https://imgur.com/gallery/ciLLOZ7

The driver's side latch has a sort of ratchet-like mechanism that engages and locks in place once the door is closed. The passenger's side doesn't have this but I'm not sure if it's supposed to or not. I apologize if this is a repeat question, I tried searching the forums but couldn't find anything that seemed to address this issue. I've been messing with it for a while now and haven't had any luck so any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Put a shim under the striker? The first thing you have to know, is what it takes to close the latch, and keep it closed. (distance?) Then you can adjust the striker, or latch to obtain that distance. The latch may be broken or inoperable.

Thanks for the tip! It ended up being one of the arms of the locking mechanism that was adjusted incorrectly. Once I got that fixed everything seems to be working fine again

Nice. These things can be a pain in the ass. Congrats and enjoy.

Hey bud, I just started running into this VERY same issue. Care to share any more details or any photos of the part you adjusted? I’m going crazy over here. Lol
