THIS. I always charge for gas, time, and usage. A furniture run is $40-$60. Helping a friend out with a trash run, car repair or something is gas; maybe $10. If somebody is in trouble (i.e. bad partner situation, needs to get out NOW), no charge.

I'm with you on that. Hauled a Chevy blazer for a lady and when we backed the blazer off the trailer it came loose from the ball and crushed my tailgate....bad thing was I just had the whole bed repainted on the truck.

    Truck stuff
+1 to getting out with a bad back. Many people will not ask me because they know I love my truck and I dont let people borrow it. My parents are an exception to this because they have always been there for me and I know they would take care of my truck and if they by some accident it was scratched/dented, they would repair and return it with a full tank of gas. I wrecked their cars enough as a young kid I think i owe them. If you know me in person you can easily tell that i have a bad back just from seeing me. After 4 months of having a truck, yesterday a coworker asked if i could help her move a mattress... I blew her off with the back excuse. If it was a good friend or someone I respected I would help for some gas and/or food.

That's why you get the short bed option and tell them it's only a 5 foot bed ;)

I can't tell you how many times I got asked to pick up stuff or move stuff when I had my CrewMax Tundra tho.

The young value the experience and not owning anything . So let them experience hearing no , or call Uber and request a truck .

Now a days people don't value their own time, little more yours.

Even though I'm unemployed and my parents pay for my gas, I still tell people no. It's very simple, I value my time.

One day this lady asked me to help move her fridge so she could clean behind it, I politely said no. Unfortunalty, my grandma's back never did fully recover.

I said "I didn't buy it to haul your shit"

I never help people move shit. I did enough of that in my life and yet not one person has ever helped me move other than my parents and people I lived with. So if you ask me to help you move, all you get is :brianr:

My wife an I helped move the 3 kids several times each . Then helped the grand kids a few times . I aways owned a truck and trailer to use. Now I am too far away and getting older I am done. I gave my old trailer to the oldest . Now he can be the go too guy . As for my new Taco , here in Arkansas everyone has a truck so it is not a problem . In fact there are not many cars around here , cars are a second vehicle .

Same here. If I owned a truck in my 20s friends would probably ask all the time. As an adult not so much. I think you eventually reach an age where you stop asking friends for help moving and stuff like that. I used to have friends help me move and vice versa. No in my late 30s we hire movers.
