I'll be out there both nights, but I probably won't stay in Ocotillo. I'm thinking of spending a night in a spot near The Slot and/or maybe one over near Split Mountain to the South. Depends on what my parents want to do and if anyone wants to go south to Elliot Mine because if people do want to head down there for slower 4x4 stuff and pretty crazy views then I at least would also like camp out down there and head back to the rest of the group the next day.

I mean, I don't know if camping in ocotillo is free or not, but it'll be better for a large group camp than any free dispersed camping in Anza. They also have facilities, I believe. We also don't really need to decide until we all get there and talk in person, but for those on the fence because they want to do slower technical wheeling, know that we have the option to do that.

Depending how many in your group , we've had a few trucks camping in a place (camp site) called The Cove, it's right behind Blo-Sand

I like the cove because its a great wind break but there again depends how big your group is I think we had 8 or 10 trucks, you could probably have more I suspect

Blowsand is inaccessible right now even with 4x4. Unless you got big power. Lol.

did someone say power??? s/c for the win :burnrubber: but never tried getting there in the truck, only on the bike which was easy.

and sub'd the thread without reading it in it's entirety, but including myself, i've got 3 rigs up for meeting some of the norcal folk at gorman (hungry valley) on either saturday or sunday if that is part of the plan. if not, i'll try to at least convince them to ride with me to one of your other destinations since I have been getting the itch to get my truck in the dirt somewhere lately

Holmes camp has bathrooms, awnings with benches & a working shower for those that might bring girls that need that kind of stuff.
Also around the benches and stuff there is trees that provide some shade.

No it's actually just too soft since it's the off season. Also, the rains have washed away all the sand at the bottom leaving a bunch of rocks exposed. Usually, if your rig can handle it, you can brap over the whoops at the bottom and hit it with speed but you gotta creep to the hill now.

I hit blo sand early in the morning after it had rained the night before in April. You can see from the picture the sand is super tightly packed and not super squishy like I'm sure it is right now in the summer. I tried it a second time that morning but didn't go fast enough at the bottom through the woops and ended up sliding about 1/3 of the way down the side [IMG]
