    Ok so logistically for Ya'll nor cal duders...If you guys are leaving Nor cal (modesto area) on Friday, it is 475 miles to Ocotillo Wells that's a long ass day of just plain ol' driving...the same would be said on Sunday when you guys head home. There are more than enough places to explore out at Ocotillo Wells/ mojave desert area for a weekend. If you wanted to be crazy you could leave early Friday, camp and wheel at Hungry Valley. Leave early for Ocotillo Wells on Saturday morning (222 miles away) and wheel and crash out in Ocotillo Saturday night and then head home (475 miles) on Sunday...LONG ASS WEEKEND...or just come down to Ocotillo on Friday and set up camp and then explore the surrounding areas Sat/Sun and leave Sunday

    just know that you are literally driving by Hungry Valley on your trip down south...that sign is gonna be tempting for peeps with 4x4 especially...Alex you won't be able to do a bunch of the stuff out at Hungry Valley with pre runners. Or just make Hungry Valley a separate trip (I've never been there and could meet you guys there sometime)

    That's what sparked my interest in LT. Lol nothing like hitting the desert with other trucks to get the wallet lighter.

    It wasn't until I got to ride in a race truck for a couple hours, hitting 2ft whoops at 50mph & feeling nothing .... then I totally understood the whole LT thing, my wallet just isn't that deep tho'...

    I would do a SAS before I would go LT. But that's just me.. I have much more fun going slow over technical terrain then going fast over whoops.

    Oh I agree 100% , once in awhile I'll plant the skinny pedal to the floor but thats in San Felipe wash in Ocotillo , long/wide/flat/pretty smooth surface

    But I've always been more of a crawler, I've had some of the LT mobbers tell me its too boring & I just tell them that I can give them just as wide eyed ass puckering ,death grip ride at 7mph as they can give me at 70mph, Comparing Mobbing to Crawling is like comparing checkers to chess, checkers is quick/fast moves, Chess however is a thinking mans game taking into account all environmentals, terrain,angles, all about wheel placement, I mean you need to think while hauling ass too , changes in direction/steering has to be made in a split sec. (& pray you made the right choice)

    The ONE thing that kills rock crawling for me is the end of the day after an 8 hour trail, assessing all my trail damage, and when I can see where we started the trail from the end of it. I just don't have interest in taking all day to drive less than 5 miles.

    I enjoy the fast paced, ground covering, split second movements of desert running. San Felipe wash at night with the SocalTacomas crew a few weeks ago....I CANNOT TELL YOU how fun that was. 40-50 trucks, all the lights on, just romping up the wash from the 78, all of us following a 1450 truck that was setting a nice pace. 10-15 min ride, everybody having a blast, just great times. :)

    If your taking all day to do 5 miles either the trail is suppppppper gnarly where your truck shouldn't be there or u have issues... Just sayin, both are fun as fuck, with proper stuff trail "damage" is negligible

    SoCal Tacomas ???? Who are those jokers anyway ??....:p

    :spy::spy:

    We've got a local trail here called Pancake rock, it's approx. 1.8 miles long & it'll take you about 4 -4.5 hours to the top of the rock & back somewhat hairball but you're right, fast or slow as long as its off the pavement it's a win...:)

    I love Pancake Rock! thats a fun trail!

    My problems with fast ass rompin in the desert are few but they make sense to me.
    1. the lack of suspension. I know its easily fixed but the wallet begs to differ.
    2. when romping if you are with more than just one or two other trucks your blind. dust is everywhere and you cant see shit. unless your the leader. then eff everyone else behind you so who cares.
    3. Last but not least, unless you are near some crazy cliff or some kinda of crazy freak accident happens usually crawling is a lot safer. sure you can get lots of body damage or roll over but usually its a slow roll and its not so bad. I can't say the same for hitting a ditch while doing 70 and never seeing it coming.

    regardless I love hitting the desert and will more than likely unleash all that is known as Hard Caaaarl in September :D
