I own a 2014 Tacoma that vibrates like crazy. The dealer changed every part they could and it still not better. Mike Sweers says it fixed and if you feel a vibration he will buy you dinner!! His words from the auto show! Can't wait to drive one to confirm!

So the rear axle and rear driveshaft angle was causing the shimmy? I was thinking they changed/ upgraded the rack and pinion assembly and made it a little stronger/tighter, it just felt to me like the steering rack was being overpowered by the tires/ suspension and was allowing it to shimmy.

Sort of a slap in the face to the thousands of people who have had to deal with it in the older models or were constantly told by service managers across the country that it was 'normal'.

I look at it this way. If it was such an easy fix they would have fixed it a long long time ago... They keep saying over and over that it's stacked tolerances and shims packages. If that was the case they should be able to fix this. I am just in shock that after 10 years they can get away with this shit!!!

90% of the vibration is from the center carrier bearing that is as sloppy as a flaccid dick. Oscillation occurs there due to any angle at the center CB joint and the respective side load associated with that.... dont believe me get your center u joint angle at 0*... take off vibes will be gone, but you will induce other vibes due to the driveline being out of phase.

I am NOT holding my breath for them to of fixed the vibes completly. But if they did id bet that all trucks, not just 4x4's have a slip joint after the center carier bearing, and a MUCH firmer center carrier bearing assembly

I'm sure there are many people that do not have the problem, however this thread is about Toyotas response to the issue and people who have/had it and are happy they are addressing it. To those that don't have it good for you, no need to rub it in, we get it ! your truck doesn't do it. Those of us that have it don't care. You guys sound like the Toyota dealers.

New Navigation DVD/CD/TV/AV/Bluetooth Stereo and seat mod spacers, 1" hubcentric spacers, seat heaters....
Back in the day GM came out with a two piece driveshaft, the front shaft was separate from the rear shaft, hooked via splines rather than an articulated two piece driveshaft, this design is still in use today with larger box delivery trucks...the front shaft was fixed and the rear shaft slipped back and forth on the splines, much like a one piece shaft with spline insert directly to the tranny....they used it in some of their pickups as I recall...

It is shameful that the vibe problems continued for so long....I hope he has unlimited charge on that credit card, this could be interesting...

I set my angles to complete zero and yes my acceleration vibration was completely gone but on decelleration it felt likei was driving over rumble strips. So I tried to put it somewhere in the middle to see if I would be happy with that and it still sucked. I understand what you saying about the center bearing but I believe the shaft it picking up a frequency vibration, and under certain conditions is vibrates like crazy and other times it's mild. I think a more sturdy bearing and a more dense driveshaft might solve this but we know Toyota won't throw any more money at this issue.

It's just fourm etiquette, someone posts about a problem with their truck whatever the issue . it's so lame when people jump in and keep saying "mine doesn't do it" like it's not a real problem or whatever.
Black trucks are hot in the summer , then someone posts "no problem with my white truck" No Sh**
