Drove somewhere with all the windows down. Got back in, drive home.

Nearing home, I hit the buttons. Back windows go up. Driver window goes up. Passenger front window--nothing.

Tried the switch on that door, no joy. Tried it again at the driver's door, nothing.

    WTF.

Turned engine off, went inside to let the truck "think about what its behavior."

Came back out and tried it again. Pressed a little harder on the driver door switch ... passenger door went up. Walked over to passenger door, that window switch now fine!

    What "happened?"

Sound like the switch is wearing out.

OK, but which one? They (both driver and passenger) seem dependent on each other?

I mean, it could be relative. But the contacts are just little copper connectors. They wear out over time. Or maybe you could just disassemble them and give a little cleaning.

Thanks, I'll check out the switches if it continues. I've had the door panels off previously; not sure the window switches are "user serviceable" but will poke at them if I get desperate.

I've never had a power window vehicle with flakey windows before, so tonight it made me a bit jumpy.

I've had a couple of switches over the years do that. Sometimes a little duster can clean them out enough.

All but the left front door have two sets of contacts in neutral one set is closed allowing control from the Master switch

Then they work independent by the other contacts in the switches .

Then the wire harness coming out of the doors into the cab wires can break over time if that right front door sees lots of use .

Switch contacts wear and get dirty in my broke younger days I would build up worn contacts with solder now I just replace the switches

You can buy the seperate switches off ebay or Amazon for about $5 or the whole drivers side switch assembly for $20 (non illuminating). Just unclip old ones and pop new ones in.

the switches for each door are ran in a sort of reversable/switchable series coming from the driver switch. really confusing stuff but it works. you should try opening your switches before replacing them. they may just be a little singed. my passenger side window switch was. so i opened it and cleaned the contacts and it worked perfectly fine after that. here's a video I used for both my truck and my girlfriends little civic. but i just used electronics cleaner with a Q-tip
