Got mine replaced Dec. 23rd. I run with the fan on all the time, never turn it all the way off. I've got about 6000 miles since replacement and not a sound out of it yet. The first fan started chirping within a couple weeks of buying my truck so, knock on wood, I hope it's taken care of.

Replacement is fast. Can't say exactly how fast, but when I took it for the fan motor replacement they also put a block heater in. Only one tech was on duty that day who was certified to work on Toyotas (it's a combined Toyota/Chrysler dealership) so they told me it could take 4-5 hours, but I was out the door in about 2 hours.

Mine is still quiet. However, when on high, it hits a different pitch after a while, so yes it's starting to whine, but only on high!!

Im on my 2nd one (2011-9000 miles). It is the redesigned one. Had it done about 2 months ago and it is quiet so far. Only took them 20 minutes to install but then again it is below the glove box and only 4 bolts to drop and replace it.

I'm on my 3rd different motor, I think. This time Toyota left me some nice grease in my seat too. Really sick of this dealer in Charlotte.

My replacement lasted a few months before it started squeaking again. I may get it replaced again, but I usually just turn up the stereo.

Eww. When I bought my truck the dealership used the bottle of paint conditioner or whatever it is that came with it. And then left the lid only halfway on and laid it down in the glovebox. And so my truck was christened. LOL

The new fan part # 043 only came out in Oct 2011. If your fan predates that, you don't have the latest greatest fan. I put mine in back in Oct and so far so good. I don't think we'll really know if these fans will last until next year.

What years does the TSB cover? Mine is making me insane, but it looks like a '10-'11 model year TSB?

If its a free, fix, take it into the dealer and make them do the work...

if not... yank it out and put a 6cents worth of 3 in 1 lube inside it and be done. my Scion XB motor ended up chirping until it froze up. i pulled it out, lubed it and its been running 100% for.. uh.. lets see, 2+ years now (no chirp). did the same thing to the taco when i got it with its annoying little chirp.
