They’ll need to open up the doors for the sound deadening my dude. Might as well just have them do it all. Like everyone is saying it should be less than half that quote. Kickers or options similar to them are great and will be plenty good for your use case

    Kicker is JUNK

Homeboy's got 8 grand to spend and only so much space. Let's at least get him some Focal

    stockish for now
I just got a full system installed, literally picked it up a few hours ago. Paid well under 2k and it is clear and hits hard. Memphis Audio components up front and coaxials for rear doors. 2 amps, each under a front seat, 2 Kicker shallow mount subs being fed 500 watts RMS each. The mids and high amp is a Memphis amp pushing 75 watts RMS to each door. 4 gauge wiring, distro block, etc....

Just going to break in the subs and then adjust my gains and eq settings over the next few days to dial it in. But it is a huge difference over the stock crappy old paper cone speakers. Subs behind the rear seats and speakers in factory location so it looks clean and stock minus the Kenwood ddin. I know there are way better speakers out there but I am not entering any competitions or trying to break the bank - yet.

Wife’s not going to let me spend close to
    That. Lol

I’m going to have the sound deadning done by a local TW member and imma do
The speakers at the same time.
I just didn’t know if the speakers have to be touched again if an amp is installed. Which I figured out they won’t need to
    Be.

Piece together a system on Crutchfield.com so that all the speaker adapters and wiring is included or easy to source. Get off-brand soundmat on Amazon. CF customer service will tell you whatever you want to know. Just went through a complete system install and had plenty of questions that they and YouTube solved.

Soundmat doesn’t even have to come close to covering entire panels to make a huge difference. Completely DIY-able...just time consuming. Should be able to get everything you could ever want out of 1500ish or so in parts/components. Time is money, but how much?

Get a written estimate and post it.

Without knowing what the product is, we have no idea if the estimates are fair or not.

The quote have Focal K2's or Flax's? DSP? Custom sub box?

Sidenote: I have some new Hertz energy components, coaxials, 8"subs and 5ch amp... I have no use for.....

Whatever you decide to do, DO NOT spend $4-8K on audio for your car. Im an audio mixer for a living and its not worth it. Most of the "high end" stuff is all hype to get uninformed buyers to bite on it. You can buy a solid amp and some new speakers for easily under $1000 and you'd be more than happy with the results. If you want an all in one package, that OEM audio company makes a kit with a subwoofer that's specifically tuned for a tacoma, for like $1500. I haven't heard it but people seem to love them.

I would hope for those component prices you're getting Focal. Jeez. Honestly seems like you're getting raked over the coals hard. If you're keeping the stock head unit, the door speakers should be 2 hours of easy install and like 4-500 for the speakers themselves.

everything was focal, the second highest level they have. However I’ve decided to go with alpine. Sub, 6 speakers, 2 tweeters. 6 channel amp for 1392.

every place I went to kept trying to force focal on me and won’t install other stuff. The shop for 8k only carries and installs focal.

    What's your end goal?

    A little more clarity?
    Something a little louder?
    Rattling neighbors windows?
    Something OEM looking?
    Dont mind cutting OEM parts?
Or spend money because "why not"?

I think this will help point you in the right direction. 8k seems pretty expensive for someone that says "I don’t know anything about car audio what so ever."

Agree. if your not an audiophile, you could spend $500 bucks and it would be an upgrade. You can achieve great results and not spend a ton of money. But if you want to blow a bunch of cash so you can say you have focal, go ahead if it’s for you!

I’ve already figured out what I want, the shops I went to were pushy with what they wanted to install. I wanted an improvement over the stock to get a sound at the jbl level like what was in my old taco.

when I said I don’t know anything what I meant was I don’t know how the install works as far as amp and if I had to reopen the doors.

I should of been more clear in my original post. That’s my bad.

however I’m going with these items.
