It all depends on what he is planning on doing. If he really is using offroad (not just fire roads, but technical offroad trails) then high clearance is a must, the stock bumper hangs very low killing your departure angle, its even worse if you have the tow package (mine did originally).

Doing that first cut is pretty hard, but once you start, its much easier to keep going haha, there is no going back. For hard offroad stuff, i would say do it....if its just easier trails or fire roads and stuff, then a regular replacement would suffice.

Here is the writeup on mine with details on the install and stuff, so you can see what is involved: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...-06-taco-expo-build-thread-4.html#post1955658

considering the time and effort that they put into this bumper, it is more than worth it. I would have been willing to pay more for it. It is one of the best things i have put on my truck. Hidden tow point (can still tow with it), backup lights, fold down table, tire, hi-lift, jerry cans, CB antenna, its ALL there. I also have a quick connect for my OBA mounted to it now, and am about to add some more goodies to it. Once you get it, you will not regret it.

I love my CBI. I got the one that doesn't require cutting the rear up. It took 30 min to install. Super easy and built to last.

    My advice:

If the truck will see offroad action and you don't go high clearance, you're wasting your time. With a bolt-on, you'll just smash up the rear rocker panels that would've been cut off for the high clearance.

If it's mainly for the pretties, bolt-ons work fine.

As usual, I wouldn't give my money to anyone but ArmorTech, Relentless Fab, or CBI.

    Here:

I know it is a biased opinion, but this is a great bolt-on plate bumper. With the hidden hitch option it does offer more clearance than stock.

Best of luck with your decision.:D

I voted All Pro simply because they're more than likely the most available quickly.

I really really really like my high clearance Relentless though.

    You're awesome either way.

I would say cruisin offroad. It is what i have and love it. Has quarter protection, tow hitch, 7 pin relocate, and matches the arb very nicely. Check out my pics....
