In the prep and paint process now. Should be able to get a better feel once the color at least matches. Then I'll decide for sure.

If it comes out like my grill did I'll be pleased.

Mounting is going to be the tough part though. Going to have to figure out something because 3 of the original mounts on the scoop are not going to be able to be used. And I have to figure out some way to cut the front grill for it straight down its center so its not as tall and sits flush with the hood.

okay, much to all the haters approval, I'm saying F**K this project... I should have known better to try and paint on such a windy day... can't keep shit from ending up in the paint...

this one's for the birds; someone else can try it, I'm done...

PM replied sfcadams. If you get it done and it looks good, I'll just keep my eye out for another scoop (I work in a salvage yard; shouldn't be that hard to come across )

I had no issues at all painting the grill with the same process and it came out great, but it was just too windy today and there was too much crap flying around in the air... I got frustrated... still pissed about it, lol. So if someone else wants to try it them more power to them. Plus, sfcadams, at least your truck is the same color so if you get it all done and it looks good, I'll at least know for sure what it looks like :p

I like the skewp but if it was me, I would go as far as bondoing it nicely to the hood and painting the entire thing. Then it looks better than factory.

'tis exactly what it is, an OEM scoop :) right off a 2002 GT

they look a lot taller on the Mustang since the hood dips down in front of the scoop

Just a word of advise the 05-09 mustang hood scoop fits the contour of the tacoma hood alot better , knows from experience. Like the one in the pic attached. The roush scoop is a lil too long for the tacoma but the 05-09 that is put on the gt mustand fits almost perfectly

I'm more partial to the shorter, wider scoop.

The contour of the back of the scoop is a little different than the contour of the hood I noticed, but I'm going to see what I can do about that; maybe heating it up and deforming it a little to flatten it out.
