Ahh, slow on the uptake on that one.

But I bet no one would own up to that.

Who is this Smitty guy you guys keep alluding to? Probably before my time I'm guessing he was a member on here who went ape about the automatic transmission to the point where he got banished?

If you can figure out how to press the ECT button and shift it into S5....yes the OV tune and shift sense are unnecessary.

Now excuse me while I pop into the 2nd gen forum and troll them about rusty frames....toodles!

Not just the transmission. Everything about the truck. In every post.

The Lee commercials crack me up. I like the one where the guy got the biggest Hemi without his wife knowing until he got home with it. The guy looks like Dustin Pedroia if Dustin let himself go.
There's also the guy who didn't want the run-around and he's gotten the run-around before and knows what the run-around looks like.

Honestly, under all the sourness he seemed like a good guy. Smitty just wouldn't stop hammering the 3rd gen in every thread. A new guy would come on and ask about purchasing a 3rd gen, and Smitty would be right in there telling him how much that was a bad idea. IT.. JUST.. KEPT.. COMING. He was warned several times, then .. poof. Gone.

Going on tacomaworld and observing "a lot" of problems is similar to going to a hospital and observing a lot of sick people.

At least he owned a third gen. Lots of people pop off on them and don’t own one.

Have you read his posts lol? EVERY NEW THREAD, he'd be there.

He got banned because of the constant negativity. You can check the banned member's memorial thread and see the Mods comments.

Edit: I mean, he was on a mission - I guess to force Toyota to fix the problems with the 3rd gen by.. telling everyone he could reach that the truck was a POS? I know he had cases open with corporate and such, which would be a good place to start.

Hey uncle zippy or maybe someone else can jump in here, I’m just curious, you said factory detuned to comply with emissions. Is that just a California thing? I’m in Colorado just curious what the background is...

Idk man. We (speaking on behalf of everyone having issues with the transmish) can't all be crazy/stupid, can we? Shiftsense and OVT are making bank from guys who just bought a new truck 1-2 years ago. The market doesn't lie, people don't pay for solutions if there are no problems.

Now I'm expecting the Toyota CSRs, PR managers, dealer service managers and staff to stiff arm us on each and every claim. They have a job to do and that job is to send us away. I get that. But we owners have to have each other's backs. Even if you personally don't have any issues you have to back other owners because one day maybe you'll be the one with the issue and you need everyone to make some noise. That's just my opinion.

The guy I spoke with told me they are tuned to CAFE, which is California compliant. While they used to tune for federal and Cali differently, Im assuming there's only one tune now....saves $$$ is my guess...
Again, this guy sits on the Toyota Corporate board, which maybe BS for all I know....
